It’s wild how quickly things can change. We were nominated for Best of Georgia last week and today we will close our doors. I’ll never forget the day we got the keys to the building. It was Halloween 2018 and I showed up to the closing dressed like Winifred from Hocus Pocus- wig, teeth and all. We signed the papers, grabbed the keys and immediately got to Main Street so we could hand out candy. It was so much fun and just the beginning of this crazy adventure. Many many months before then I was walking down Main Street and the realtor was showing the movie people around Moores. Even though it was dark and dirty and broken down, all I could see was a place full of memories that begged to be brought back to life. I called Kev and told him we were buying a building on Main Street. He said, “No the fu*k we ain’t”. So we compromised and we bought the building. We didn't really have any intentions of buying a building or starting a business. Kevin works a full time job and I was amidst one of the darkest seasons of my life. We immediately rented out the apartment and I started work downstairs getting her cleaned out and cleaned up. You’d have to have seen it to believe what a job it was to just get her clean - Food was still in the fryer, 100s of plates stacked high still holding the food of yesteryear. We’d get something fixed and promptly the floor would fall in or the ceiling upstairs would cave in and every single other surprise you could imagine would greet us on the other side of a completed task. The fun never stopped. LOL Piece by piece me and this old girl put ourselves back together. Let me tell you, it wasn’t pretty but growth never is. It’s still very much a work in progress as I’m sure it always will be. Running a restaurant was never the plan. Running a business was never the plan. Bringing light and love to this corner was. I’d say Mission Complete but I know there are still so many memories to be shared here. This was never our building, it’s Cedartown’s. We will pass the torch and I just know the right person will keep letting her shine.
