Right on cue for the Regatta!!! π€ͺ
β FORECAST UPDATE (6/29) - HEAT WAVE ALERT π₯΅π₯΅ This one is looking as hot as it normally gets in a given year (and perhaps a little hotter). It's definitely going to be made worse by the fact that we haven't had any recent experience with actual heatπ
The spoiling is over.
Even today, temperatures will poke around the 90-degree mark with the stuffy clouds around. As we get into the week, the skies will get hazier with the creeping humidity, putting us under an uncomfortable milky blue-white sky. Afternoon temperatures will get ever closer to 100Β°, with Heat Index values forcing the feel 5-10 degrees hotter than that.
Be VERY intentional when going outside for longer than a half hour any one of the days this week. Stay hydrated, take breaks back in Air Conditioning, and check on your neighbors/elderly especially if they don't have access to the A-C. Let's help each other out.
-- And don't forget the PETS either. You think you don't like this heat? Imagine being covered in fur! Early morning or late-evening walks are the only, let alone the best.
Now, to talk about when the 'relief' might come... Each day a little more humidity seeps into the picture. That combined with the higher afternoon temperatures will eventually come to a head where those afternoon pop-up storms will simply have to trigger. When they do, they will only hit a few spots to start, but they should be some real loud lightning-filled storms as there will be a ton of energy available to feed these things. At first, not looking at a lot of dynamics in the atmosphere twisting into 'severe' weather, but the steam release should be epic when/where it finally occurs.
..Unfortunately, 'brief' might also be the operative word too, because no actual cold front is going to be able to stay alive through the region to sweep out the heat nor the humidity. Next week is looking hot as well. Sometimes you just don't know how good you have it until it's gone.
