WE'VE BEEN HERE SIX YEARS. THIS IS HOW WE SAY THANK YOU.

This is Maurice again.

A few weeks ago, I shared something that has been weighing on me for a while:

People aren’t just eating differently…
…they’re gathering differently too.

Lunch became rushed.
Dinner became “maybe later.”
And somewhere along the way, too many moments around the table started disappearing.

So when we said Matchbox was going to fight back for community this summer…
…we meant it.

This is our first commitment to that message.

Introducing our new **Double Angus Brioche Burger (Double B) Feature Lunch Combo** — a scratch-made lunch built for real life, so come build your own, Mon - Fri (11am - 3pm).

🍔 Burger
🍟 Fries or side salad
🥤 Soft drink
—all for $11.

Not because we believe food should be inexpensive.
But because we believe sitting down together shouldn’t feel out of reach.

Maybe it’s coworkers escaping the office for an hour.
Maybe it’s parents catching up after errands.
Maybe it’s two friends reconnecting after not seeing each other for too long.

Those moments matter.

And if Matchbox can help make gathering around the table feel easy again — even just for lunch — then we’re doing exactly what we set out to do six years ago.

This is just the beginning of what we’re building for Charlottesville this summer.

With love,
Maurice & Team

AFTER 6 YEARS OF MATCHBOX AT The Shops at Stonefield...

This is Maurice at Matchbox.

From day 1, we worked on answering a simple question:

How do you create a restaurant that feels easy for everyday life and makes you want to come be among community again and again?

Our original answer…

…was to start with 🔥.

Built for us in Italy, our pizza ovens anchor a central pizza bar at the heart of the restaurant, a place designed for the community to gather. We added a friendly bar as a gathering point, and brought Charlottesville’s personality into the space. BUT…

…recently, something has happened to many restaurants in our town…

People started to disconnect from eating out and from being with others:

* Takeout grew, yes
* Delivery also has risen

But date night, family dinners, office gatherings, after game meetups…

…they have faded and community has felt more frayed as a result.

So, Matchbox is bringing community back to the table.

Watch us this summer as we build solutions for your dine-out life, your escape-from-routine moments, your spend-some-quality-time meals and so on.

Matchbox has always been about building something meaningful for the community. Now, we’re doubling down on being there for the moments that matter most.

With love,
Maurice & Team

If you’re on a diet, chances are you don’t want to ditch it when you dine out.

Thankfully, you don’t have to!

Just follow these four tips to maintain your healthy habits:

Keep it simple — anything raw, steamed, baked, or grilled is typically a safe option.
Ask for more veggies — consider adding a side salad or swapping out the french fries.
Get the sauce on the side — that way, you can decide how much you use.
Skip the sweet stuff — as tasty as they are, sugary drinks can be the beginning of a diet’s downfall.

Following these tips is key to keeping up with your diet while dining out — so if you need a hand staying on top of them, feel free to reach out any time and we’ll happily help you out :)

It’s one thing to decide what to eat — it’s a whole other thing to decide where.

So now we’d like to ask you:

Do you prefer to dine in or get take out?
