Fat Pit Barbecue

I have been receiving lots of messages about when and where we will be opening and I want to take a moment to address why we haven’t opened yet.

Fat Pit Barbecue was founded in March 2021 with the intent of opening by September 2021. But unfortunately, I was diagnosed with a very rare, 1 out of a million type of cancer called neuroendocrine cancer of the pancreas in May of 2021.

Through sheer luck it showed up on a CT scan that I was having for pain in my abdomen after having a major knee surgery in April. Around February I started feeling very sick every time I ate and eventually started passing out after I ate towards the end of April.

After interviewing a few surgeons through telehealth, while I was in the hospital, I found one that I thought was capable of doing the job and two days later I was admitted to the hospital in NYC and the tumor was successful removed.

The recovery and the what if’s have been very challenging and I’m asking all our followers to please remain patient with us as we can finally start moving forward again.

As I’m still on the mend, I decided to cook up a brisket, pork butt and dinosaur beef ribs for the family. We can’t wait to serve some great BBQ to the community soon!

Looking for a high energy working supervisor for a brand new BBQ food trailer in a stationary location in Valatie, NY. The trailer is equipped with everything you need including dual heat/AC units, employee bathroom, brand new equipment and plenty of space to work. The trailer is just temporary while we transition into our commercial space.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- excellent customer service.
- leading your team
- scheduling
- specials menu item planning
- filling in for call outs
- ordering and inventory management
- running the pit, grilling and serving as needed.

Requirements:
- two years of food service industry experience or equivalent required.
-  High School diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
- must have reliable transportation and be on time for your shift

Advancement opportunities available in the future. This is a year round position. No pitmaster experience is necessary, we’re willing to train the right person. Pay will be determined by experience.
