hey everybody,
i just want to thank everybody for the posi vibes everyone's been sending my way. im blown away at the amount of action that kids are taking in support of the shop. with any luck, we'll get things straightened out and re-opened as soon as possible. i've noticed alot of talk about the shows and "the scene" and whatnot and i'd just like to set the record straight...
yes, we do try our hardest to pay EVERY band that comes through. obviously, touring bands take priority and the majority of cash goes to them but we don't like to send anybody away empty handed. when locals tell us to give their cuts to touring bands, well, that's badass. we've turned down offers to work with outside promoters because as far as we're concerned, there is no money to be made in this. when you pay your 5 dollars at the door it's going to bands. and hopefully, that will be enough money to get them to get to their next show. if you really want to help your local scene and local bands... support touring bands, too. if word gets out that chesterton is an awesome place to play, more bands will want to come here. if you are in a local band, talk to the touring bands. make connections, network! the beauty of a DIY community is that it's basically just a huge group of friends helping each other out. cut the rockstar bu****it and mosh your ass off! (just don't break my lights... Orion, i'm looking at you!) have fun! in the end that's all you're going to remember anyways.
im gonna get off my soapbox here. the library's about to close and im gettin' dirty looks from the librarians who want me to hit the road. i love you all.
