Our cafe turns 7 years old this Sunday, which just so happens to be the most special day of the year; MOTHER’S DAY ❣️
What started as a tiny dream turned into something bigger than we could’ve ever imagined, and something all of you have made your own.
Mom ‘n ‘em is a saying our father and uncle would say to us kids growing up, picked up from Gary Burbank on 700 WLW, where he’d always say, “Hey, how’s your Mom ‘n ‘em?” It’s about Mom and all of you, welcomed into our home.
This project was dedicated to our mom. Back in 2014 we wanted to build something that would get her surrounded by people again. It took over 5 years to open, and I am glad it did. Nothing beautiful comes easy. Sometimes the brightest flower in the garden take years to grow roots deep enough to stand tall and shine.
One core memory I keep coming back to was flying home to demo the space here in Camp Washington, my brother swinging a sledgehammer while mom cleaned up behind him. Standing in that empty room, I told her, “I hope people come here, and I hope they find the deeper meaning of what we’re building.” She smiled and said, “All that matters is that you boys are giving it your all. No matter what, I will always be proud of all you kids.”
To this day, I still tear up.
Seven years later we have a second location, we roast our own coffee, and we canned Franklin’s Coconut Cold Brew. None of it planned, all of it organic, backed by an incredible team and the Cincinnati community we love. We’ve had our fair share of failures too, and we’ve learned from every single one them.
Thank you to every one of you. Whether you’re standing in the weekend line or sneaking in on a quiet Wednesday morning, we see you. And to our staff, both present and past, you are the backbone of all of this. Thank you for being part of the journey.
Now let’s celebrate!
