This Monday's soup is a Pork and Bean soup. Using, mostly, the leftovers from our weekend special. Ham hocks, smothered pork chops, and bacon, along with the incredible potlikker from the collard greens. This makes an incredible savory delicious soup for tonight.

Some Soul Food for a Friday. Classic smothered pork chop. It is pan fried and then simmered in the onion gravy. A pile of sharp cheddar and smoked Gouda Mac and cheese. Slow cooked collard greens and marscapone corn bread, pan fried in butter.

The history of Mac and cheese is interesting. There is a known creator of the American M&C. Something i did not know. The whole story of soul food is fascinating. I'll spare you the essay.

Happy Friday. We're open Friday night.
It's Memorial Day weekend. Just here to let you know that Hogan's takes a vacation on Memorial Day weekend.
Closed Saturday- Monday
This usually allows me to get some projects done here. I have 1 minor project here and 1 major project at home.

The Drinky Box will be open Saturday. Go in and wish someone there a Happy Birthday. Try everyone until you get it right.

Budae Jjigae - Korean Army Stew. A soup with an interesting and significant historical background.

Honestly a super fun and bizarre soup to build. I had some leftover ingredients from the bibimbap this weekend and that fits in perfectly with the Army stew. The ingredient list(shown in the video), reads like a stoner emptying the cupboards after taking all of b**g rips, all of them. But, they all come together to make an absolutely incredible stew.
You may see the Nongshim K Army stew in the store with the instant Ramen. It is nothing compared to this.

It's spicy, like 4/10 spicy. Nothing crazy, but it'll make you sweat.

And just a heads up. It's got so many common allergens in it. Shrimp, dairy, wheat. All of the major meat proteins(fish, poultry, pork, shellfish and beef)

Bibimbap. I love it. Classic Korean dish that feels like home cooking. I did my best to keep it traditional. I made the Kimchi radish, kkakguri. With the bulgogi beef, ginger carrots, enoki mushrooms, toasted seaweed, sautéed spinach, seared green onion, topped with a fried egg and the spicy-ish bibimbap sauce(gochujang, sesame oil, tamari(GF soy sauce) ginger and vinegar)

It's all gluten free. Don't get the radish if you have shellfish allergies. There are 1000's of tiny shrimp in there.

Smash it up and eat it. Each constituent part is so delicious. This is an excellent introduction to Korean cuisine if you're not familiar.

Special thanks to Shin's Asian Market in Pullman. Everyone there is always so incredibly nice. And they have a great selection of Korean groceries. I genuinely love going to that store.
