We’ve got a lot to be thankful for.

From being featured by FOX25 as a must-stop diner on Route 66, to making it into a Route 66 travel book, to now being recognized as the #1 American Food Restaurant in Clinton… it’s been a pretty exciting year.

None of it happens without our amazing team. From the servers you see every day to the cooks and dishwashers working behind the scenes, they’re the reason we’re able to do what we do.

And of course, thank you to every customer who chooses to spend their time and money with us. We appreciate you more than you know.

Not bad for a little cafe in western Oklahoma, huh?

This week’s Employee Spotlight goes to Kelly.

Over the last two years, Kelly has worked his way up from dishwasher to Kitchen Manager. He’s overcome a lot, stayed focused, and put in the work to better himself both personally and professionally. We’ve watched him grow into someone we can truly rely on, and that means a lot.

Most people see him cooking every day, but they don’t see everything happening behind the scenes. Tracking inventory, managing the kitchen crew, covering breaks, coming in on days off, handling problems before they become bigger problems… he does it all without complaining.

Kelly isn’t afraid of hard work, long days, or a hot kitchen. He’s become one of the most dependable people we have both inside and outside of work. Somewhere along the way, he stopped being just an employee and became family.

He’s also officially the second best cook in town and the second best handyman in the restaurant 😂. We won’t say who beat him in either category, but he’ll probably argue about it anyway.

If you see him in the kitchen tomorrow, let him know he’s appreciated. He’s earned it.

Not saying we’re famous now… but technically we are in a book.

Route 66 Cafe was featured in the new Route 66 Centennial Edition celebrating 100 years of the Mother Road.

It may only be a small portion, but seeing our little cafe mentioned alongside Route 66 history honestly means a lot. Pretty cool moment for us. We’ll have a few copies for purchase soon.

Apparently word got out about the cafe because a few weeks ago KOKH FOX 25 News, came by to film with us and named us one of the three must-stop diners on Route 66 in Oklahoma.

Which is honestly wild considering half the time we’re just in the kitchen yelling things like “WHO TOOK TABLE 6 RANCH?”

Huge thanks to the FOX25 crew for spending the day with us and making us look way more organized than we really are. Go watch the video we posted!

We are headed down the Mother Road to check out some iconic diners.Today on Living Oklahoma we spotlighted Lucielle's Roadhouse Restaurant in Weatherford, Rout

Employee shoutout this week goes to Natasha, our front end manager and full-time crisis prevention specialist.

Need a schedule fixed? Natasha.
Need a server trained? Natasha.
Need someone hired? Natasha.
Need a special board made? Natasha.
Need someone to calm down an angry customer, answer the phone, seat a table, fix the online orders, and solve three problems at once? Also Natasha.

Meanwhile she somehow stays calm while the rest of us are one inconvenience away from becoming feral.

And then there’s Zoey, her daughter, who gets brought in during emergencies like some kind of unlockable support character. Tiny Natasha. Same powers. Slightly smaller human. (Thanks Zoey!)

Jokes aside, this restaurant would not be what it is without Tash and everything she pours into this place every day, thank you.

If you see Natasha today, make sure to show her some love…

Cold outside. Gray skies. Slight emotional damage.

Sounds like a Pho day to us.

Tomorrow (Thursday) we’re bringing back the housemade beef Pho one last time before Oklahoma turns into the surface of the sun.

We’re not making a ton, because self control is important or whatever. So if you’ve been thinking about it… this is your sign.

Starts at 11. Come get steamy.

WEEKLY EMPLOYEE SHOUTOUT: ANA

Most of you probably haven’t met Ana because she’s usually in the back absolutely carrying the kitchen while the rest of us are trying to survive the breakfast rush. 😂

Ana has been with us for almost a year now. She started in the dish pit and worked her way up to cook through pure hard work and consistency. She’s worked side-by-side with other cooks and now she handles the kitchen on her own.

If you’ve loved one of our chicken fried steaks, fried chicken, lunch specials, or sides lately… there’s a really good chance Ana made it.

She works 6 days a week, never calls in, somehow is NEVER sick, still goes to school, and keeps working toward her goals outside of the restaurant too. Honestly the kind of work ethic that should inspire a lot more young people these days.

But don’t let the hard-working quiet cook thing fool you…

Give Ana a microphone and there’s about a 99% chance Whitney Houston is about to happen. 🎤 (Don’t worry, Ana, we won’t post the videos 😉)

We’re lucky to have her and we appreciate everything she does for Route 66 Cafe. If you see her, make sure to show her some love.

Tomorrow!

The Ball Boss is back doing what she does best… making meatballs.

If you’ve had Sirena’s Firecracker Meatballs before, then you already know she doesn’t mess around. This time she’s going full Italian with giant homemade meatballs smothered in rich tomato sauce, piled onto a toasted garlic bun, and buried under melted mozzarella.

Big balls.
Bold flavor.
Zero apologies.

This isn’t one of those cute little “light lunch” sandwiches either.
It’s a full-blown situation.

Respectfully.
