There’s a lot of history in this event, two local guys building something separate yet finding a way to come together.

Dervo’s salads were top notch, and the Dervo Special chicken sandwich absolutely delivered. That kale slaw was a nice switch-up, and the seasonal salad with Fresno State corn was packed with flavor.

Speaking of packed… the place was full of card traders, collectors, and foodies all night. Great energy, great people, and a fun experience all around. Saw a card sell for $5k and realized real quick… I’ll stick to food 😉

Come visit Dervo’s Deli and Grill for some amazing eats, and stay tuned with Central Valley Card Show for upcoming events.

In the food game and in life, a handshake still means something—but only if the person behind it has integrity. I’ve learned that good food brings people together, but business can reveal character quick. The details matter. The fine print matters. And money has a way of exposing intentions. I’ll always ride for small business and the people doing it right, because loyalty, honesty, and consistency still matter. Support real ones.

Hit up Carrillo's Mexican Food … their chips and salsa are some of the chunkiest around, and those chilaquiles were straight fire.

Around here, good food doesn’t just get passed down—it branches out. That’s what makes the Fresno and Clovis food scene different. So many spots are tied together by family, recipes, and history. One kitchen becomes two, brothers split off, and longtime cooks build their own legacy. Castillo’s, Casa Quintero, Country Fare, Cafe Leon, Toledo’s, Toledito’s—it’s all part of the 559 story.

I used to be conditioned almost daily to run around like my head was cut off just trying to get things done. I know the struggle of small business, and I know the shadow side that can drain the life out of you. But God had a different plan. I thank Him for pulling me out of a terrible situation and showing me a new way to find peace. Peace looks different for everyone, and the journey is your own. Stay grounded. Stay positive. Keep moving forward. 🙏

Supporting local hits different when it’s a place that’s been part of your story for years. El Pueblito has been on my family’s table since 1995, and that kind of history means something. Good food, good people, and a business that’s stayed consistent while serving the community for decades. In a world where so much changes, places like this remind you why loyalty matters. That kind of consistency, quality, and heart deserves support.

Sometimes the hardest part of leaving a toxic situation isn’t the leaving — it’s watching how hard people push when they realize they no longer have access to you.

Boundaries were never meant to control other people. They’re the line that protects your peace, your growth, and your future. Some people will respect them, others will test them, and some will escalate when they realize the old version of you isn’t available anymore.

That doesn’t mean the boundary isn’t working. Sometimes it means it’s working exactly as it should.

Protect your peace. Stay consistent. Let their chaos belong to them.

Your social media is for you — not your friends. There’s freedom in expressing your opinions, your feelings, and your perspective on any subject. If you stay grounded in that mindset, the negativity and the haters won’t have the power to stop you. Not everyone has to understand your journey, but don’t let that silence your voice. Keep showing up. Keep being authentic. Keep being that positive influence, because the right people will always connect with the real you.

The Red Caboose Café is a staple out here on the edge of Clovis and Sanger at Shaw and Academy. It had been a while since my last visit, and I’m glad to say the charm is still alive and thriving.

The machaca was hands down the star of the meal and honestly rivals some of the best chilaquiles I’ve had. It was that good. The French toast was pretty standard, but still worth trying if you want something sweet on the side. Did I mention the machaca was great already?

They’ve expanded into pizza next door and also provide the food for Two Ravens Brewery in the same center, which is pretty cool to see.

The service was amazing, the food came out quick, and overall it was just a great experience. Definitely one of those local spots that keeps earning its place in the community.
