Gang Violence Solutions Explored at Lifetree Café

Solutions to gang violence and hope for gang members will be explored at Lifetree Café on Thursday, June 17th at 6:30pm.

Doors open at 6pm for fellowship and a free dinner.

The program, titled “Hope for Gangs: Surprising Stories from the Bloods and Crips,” features exclusive filmed interviews with several former gang members who share their past experiences and how they escaped the dangerous lifestyle.

“I was very involved in sports growing up, but when I moved to a new street, it all changed,” one of the former gang members says. “I saw all these kids running around, and it was something I wanted to be a part of. Everything became very hateful toward my rivals, and it was just the thing to do.”

During the program, Lifetree participants will have the opportunity to discuss ways they can impact the lives of gang members in their own community.

Extraterrestrial Landings Discussed at Lifetree Café

The likelihood of alien landings will be explored at Lifetree Café on Thursday, June 3rd at 6:30pm.

The program—titled “The Aliens Are Coming: What If It’s True?”— features filmed interviews with UFO researcher Stanton Friedman and Mutual UFO Network director Clifford Clift.

“We pursue the scientific study of UFOs for the benefit of humanity,” Clift says. “We have about 800 trained field investigators worldwide helping investigate sighting reports that come to us.”

During the program, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their belief or lack of belief in extraterrestrial life.

Finding Your Purpose in Life Explored at Lifetree Café

How to discover your purpose in life will be explored at Lifetree Café on Thursday, May 20th at 6:30pm.

Doors open at 6pm for fellowship and a free dinner.

The program, titled “Crafting a Truly Fulfilling Life: Making the Most of Whatever Comes Your Way,” features a filmed interview with Dennis Drake. Drake is the founder of the International Deaf Education Association, a Philippines-based program dedicated to providing education and training to the island’s deaf population.

“This work gave me purpose; it gave me life,” says Drake. “I found my life here with this community and these kids. If I look back over the last 34 years, I have no regrets over how I’ve spent my time.”

During the program, participants will have the opportunity to tell about times they’ve felt fulfillment in their own lives.

Lifetree Café Explores Child S*x Slavery—in America

America’s growing child s*x slavery problem will be explored at Lifetree Café on Thursday, May 13th at 6:30pm.

Doors open at 6pm for fellowship and a free potluck dinner.

The program, titled “Child S*x Slaves: America’s Disturbing Secret,” features a filmed interview Pat McCalla, associate director of the documentary Branded, a film educating viewers about child exploitation in North America.

“Child s*x slavery has always been around, but it’s really exploding in our country right now,” McCalla says. “The average age of these children is 13 years old. That’s the average, which means there are kids who are even younger.”

During the program, participants will learn how the growing child s*x industry seduces children into the s*x trade…the devastating results...and how to encourage children to stay safe.

Police Brutality Examined at Lifetree Café

Violent encounters between citizens and law enforcement officers will be explored on Thursday, April 29th at 6:30pm.

Doors open at 6pm for fellowship and a free dinner.

The program, titled “Police Brutality or Necessary Force?” features filmed interviews with a man who was severely beaten after a routine traffic stop and a police captain who used what was deemed appropriate force—but resulted in the death of an innocent man.

During the interviews, both parties will share accounts of their experiences.

“This Lifetree program will provide a rare opportunity to hear from individuals on both sides of a controversial topic, both with firsthand experience,” says Lifetree representative Craig Cable. “Whether or not you already have an opinion on the level of force police use, it will be an enlightening hour of conversation.”

Strategies for finding peace after a loss will be discussed at Lifetree Café on Thursday, April 22nd at 6:30pm.

The program, titled “Coping with Grief: Find Your Path to Peace,” features a filmed interview with Ken Doka, a grief counselor and author of more than 20 books, including Grieving Beyond Gender: Understanding the Ways Men and Woman Mourn.

“It’s a common misunderstanding that grief follows a fairly predictable pattern,” says Doka. “But each of us has our own pathway; each of us takes our own journey as we grieve.”

During the program, Lifetree Café participants will have the opportunity to discuss self-care strategies they’ve used during times of grief.

The Benefits of Laughter Featured at Lifetree Café

The benefits of laughter, along with helpful information on humor and health, will be the theme at the upcoming Lifetree Café on April 15th at 6:30pm.

Doors open at 6pm for fellowship and a free dinner.

The event will include a filmed interview with humorist and general practitioner Dr. Brad Nieder. Known as the Healthy Humorist, Nieder entertains thousands across the country with his medical-related humor. He demonstrates how a good laugh can promote mental and physical health.

Nieder says, “Laughter is quite effective at reducing stress, managing pain, and boosting the immune system. In the workplace it can enhance communication, aid creativity, and improve productivity.”
