Bryan Friends! Sign the petition, no medians = quicker access to Tacobar coming in from Bryan on Texas Ave!!
Howdy Everyone! As not everyone getting the newspaper these days I would like to post copy of a “letter to the editor” for everyone to be able to read. Our project has been on going by a group of concerns volunteers and we are very close to the goal. Please note the 2 dates and times that have been donated to help our cause…if you have not yet signed the petition and would like to please come to these event! Thanks Denise!
“Sign the petition for Medians Removal”
Anyone who has driven on Texas Avenue knows of the difficulty in reaching businesses without dangerous U-turns or driving through neighborhoods. In fact, U-turn crashes have increased significantly on several stretches of Road. Of even greater concern is the fact that firetrucks and other First Responders cannot easily access the quickest path to those in need of their help. The recent heavy rains turned Texas Avenue into a river, as trapped water could not flow to storm drains.
We have tried working with TXDoT and the City Of Bryan. Instead of spending less money to remove specific sections of Medians, they are now set to spend more money to add traffic lights to Texas Avenue, despite the recommendation against it by a traffic consultant paid with taxpayer money.
Now we say let the people decide! We have 1,900 of the 2,600 signatures we need to put the Medians on the Bryan November ballot. Petitions must be signed in person only by registered voters living in the Bryan city limits. Please come to 108 E. North Ave. in Bryan on Tuesday, June 23, from 5-7pm or Saturday, June 27, from 9-11am to sign the petition. This cannot be done over the internet and must be signed in front of a witness. It will take you 20 minutes to exercise your right to express your opinion. If the Medians get removed, you will get that time back tenfold and it might save a life. Please bring friends and family and spread the word.
