A special shout out goes to our neighbor and great friend, Duke "the farmer" Wilkins (age 86 now !!), and also his bride Millie Wilkins, whom is sadly no longer with us. Duke has farmed and cared for our restaurant field "mosquito field", since day 1. Many of the vegetables served in summer season, we picked fresh daily (or mostly, Duke, picked LOL). Duke & Millie dined at Willey's dang near every week. Duke's grouchy, loving, stern advice was listened to, often, and still is, LOL. His old ways, wisdom, local stories and military stories ( yep, he was an 18 year old US Army soldier at Battle of the Bulge, WWII....amazing, really ) were complimented perfectly by Millie, whom was my best gal friend in Maple Grove, and had many great stories herself. I sat in her kitchen often, drinking coffee, smoking ciggies and giggling like two school girls about this and that. I miss her dearly and keep her picture above my desk @ home office. Thanks for the priceless friendship and the many fond memories, Duke & Millie Wilkins ! I'M BACK.........

There are two local businesses that deserve to be mentioned and added to the prior gratitude list.

One was so good at his craft, that Willey's restaurant only hired him once, LOL, (before we opened in '96). Larry Bowie Contracting redesigned and installed our upgraded drain field & septic system, prior to opening, per the county's environmental services specifications. Larry did an outstanding job, and the system has worked flawlessly since day one ! Thank you Larry Bowie !!!

The other honorable mention goes out to Hall's Supermarket. I could write a book about how accommodating and neighborly the Hall's Family has been to Willey's operation. Thank you for efficiently and tirelessly supplying food and sundry items to Willey's.... for years of weekly and daily "I need to run to Hall's to get......" . Mrs. Hall, Emily Hall, Reed & Anne Hall, Tammy (Hall) & Larry Wilder, April (Hall) Gray and the young Jimbo Gray. Ya'll take the cake ! Your clan is so big, hope I didn't leave anyone out, employee wise. I also hope you are in business for umpteen more generations. They just don't build 'em and run 'em anywhere.......like Hall's..... anymore !! Thanks so much for "being there" for us always, the non-family staff included, of............. Hall's "Family" Supermarket !

In closing (yeah, right !), we just want to say that there are some very special and wonderful people in this ever disappearing small town Northern Neck community that are our friends always, and were very much a part of Willey's comraderie (sp) & success.

The machinery and infrastructure of Willey's restaurant would like to send out a GARGANTUAN THANK YOU to our local service companies & tradesmen (many) that were there from day one 1996 build out until 2014 shut down, and kept our operation tuned up all along the way....too often times involving "Saturday night middle of dinner rush emergency repairs". LOL !!!

Everyone is invited today to Willey's Restaurant Contents Auction, hosted by Gitie's Auctions, our dearly loved local auctioneer.

Preview starts at noon, auction begins at 1 PM.

EVERYTHING MUST GO:

All dining room decor and furnishings.

Full service restaurant kitchen..... including, all cooking / prep equipment, stainless steel work tables, large stainless steel double sink and triple sink, commercial dish machine "dirty table and clean table" (dish machine is rental and not for sale), small wares, out door walk in refrigerator and outdoor walk in freezer.

Come on by and say good bye to Willey and Trisha ! We look forward to seeing our colleagues from near and far, and all our friendly customers and neighbors.

YOUR HOSTS @ WILLEY’S RESTAURANT:

After numerous years of being on the market, Willey’s restaurant has sold.

We want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of our customers, neighbors, friends and family for being part of our
22 year long adventure in the BBQ business. It’s been a gas !
We will dearly miss all of our patrons ! Thanks to the Northern Neck and Colonial Beach for 18 years of support, and to the folks from our starting point in North Stafford during our first 4+ years.

Our last day of operation will be this Sunday, 6 April 2014.
We will be open as usual Thursday – Sunday this week. We may be selling out of favorite items before closing time Sunday.

And keep an eye out for the famous " Willey’s " logo.
You never know where that boy is gonna show up next……..
