This week, Celia Cruz, the Queen of Salsa and the first primarily Spanish-language artist, was honored with the Early Influence Award from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

At FIU, her legacy runs deep: an Honorary Doctor of Humanities Degree awarded in 1992, our CasaCuba cultural centre celebrating Cuban American heritage, our students' performances in Celia Sinfónica, and the 230-piece music score collection stewarded by our institution.
