Cold Brew Season is Here!

What is cold brew? Cold brew coffee is a method of extracting the caffeine and flavor from coffee beans by soaking in cold water. It is a perfect summer afternoon pick-me-up!

How we make the coffee concentrate:

1. Use one 12oz bag of Cana, Guadalupe, Lourdes, or Mater Dolorosa Roast
2. Grind the coffee to the coarsest grind setting
3. Place ground coffee in a large container
4. Add 2.5 liters of water
5. Let sit in the fridge for 18-24 hours
6. Filter out the coffee grounds by pouring through a paper filter

Making the drinks:

1. Add coffee concentrate to glass
2. Add another ½ part flavored creamer and ½ part milk
3. Add ice cubes and stir
4. Put a straw in and enjoy!

*For strong drinks, we use a 1:1 ratio of coffee to milk/flavor
*For weaker drinks, we use a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio

I really love when our feast days pop up in the liturgical calendar. All of our other bags are Marian titles and events, which have specific dates on the calendar usually every year.

Today, I was very excited at Mass to hear the Wedding Feast of Cana gospel reading.

Occasionally, we will get asked a question on why we have a roast named “Cana” because all of our other coffees are Marian titles. But like you might’ve heard in your homily today, Mary is one of the most important characters in this story which starts His public ministry.

Her last recorded words for us are, “Do whatever he tells you” and in reflection I see it as a call to accept our Fiat like Mary did.
