Dear friends, employees, and guests of Lucky Dog Cafe,

With heavy heart we are announcing the closing of Lucky Dog Cafe. This has been a very difficult decision and we are sad to say goodbye, after 20 years we have decided it’s time to move on to the next adventure. Our property will remain, but will be transformed into something new & exciting for 2026.
We would like to thank our staff for being the backbone of the cafe. We can’t seem to find the words to express how eternally grateful we are for you. We became a family and we cherish you.
We thank each and every one that has supported us over the past 20 years. You are the reason for our success as we are honored to have served you. You trusted us with your special events: birthdays, graduations, first dates, marriage proposals, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, baby showers, EPIC parties, celebrations of life, and many other extraordinary moments.
Lucky Dog gave us all a place to feel at home.
What an incredible journey it has been!
Stop by Riversport and say hello this summer!

Yours Sincerely and with much love,

Erica, Andy & Aspen

WEST CONFLUENCE MUSINGS: Behold in the middle is West Confluence, Pennsylvania. In May 1754, George Washington and party reached “the Turkey-Foot.” In 1763, Henry Abrahams (Abrams),Sr. builds a cabin on ‘The Point.’ (It is reported that Abrams died at 108 and is buried on ‘The Point’ but the gravesite is unknown.) By 1856, Jacob Sterner (October 12, 1819-July 24, 1895) buys the 167 1/2 acres (West Confluence) from George Heimbach on November 8, 1856. Jacob Sterner’s Farm is subsequently subdivided and streets laid out by the Confluence Land Company beginning in 1871. Confluence becomes incorporated as a Borough in 1873. Hence—there’s ‘Jacob’ and ‘Sterner’ Streets.
Jacob Sterner dies in 1895 and is buried in the cemetery established there at the time. There’s at least 10 other graves that preceded his. The oldest is Captain Andrew Friend (1709-March 15, 1793)—the wilderness scout who battled with Native Americans. There are two Heinbaughs interred in the 1860s. (There’s the ‘Heinbaugh Street’ origins.)
Jacob Sterner’s daughter, Ida Sterner Reynolds (September 12, 1858-June 26, 1936), resided on ‘The Point’ her entire life. (There’s ‘Reynolds Street.’) In 1912, the Confluence Baptist Church was dedicated. Sterner Street postcards are issued by 1912.
