Brass Buckle Mexican Restaurant

Our food, is not 100% authentic Mexican but is a type of fusion. We infuse continental foods with south west and Mexican flavors. "Carrots in the salsa" yes we do... this gives the salsa a sweet flavor with a nice crunch. Our Chef makes many great tasting food that you will not get anywhere else such as our bacon brownie with sea salt Carmel and candied habaneros or Shrimp with lime over chipotle

gnocchi a twist on the Italian dish and all handmade or the Dose Equis beer brined porter house with seasoned garlic red potatoes. And of course we have burritos, enchiladas, tacos, fajitas and many other south west Mexican food. By the way for those of you looking for authentic Mexican burritos, you do know burritos where started in America

Just like many people secretly put carrots in marinara sauce so do we with our salsa. We pride our self in using only the freshest ingredients, as well as still keeping our eye on healthy food. All our chicken is fresh our steaks are hand cut and many of our foods are also gluten free, since we do not use flour but rice flour and corn starch. On behalf of our family at the Brass Buckle, I would like to welcome you to our restaurant. The Brass Buckle, once known as the Conyngham Hotel has been located here at this locations since circa 1805. Making it the oldest restaurant in the area. Also to put things in prospective who was the president of the United States in 1805 when the Brass Buckle first opened? The Brass Buckle is located in a 205+ year old Rathskeller, not a basement. Rathskeller started in German-speaking countries for a bar or restaurant located below ground level. Many taverns and bars throughout the world use the name Rathskeller to this day. Remember the show Cheer's, they too are in a Rathskeller. Prior to 1930s many immigrants, would rent the cheapest area of a building, to sell food to other immigrants of the same origins. This is one of the starts of the many Rathskeller still open today that you see in New York, Philly and Boston


I, Jerry am the owner and was born and grew up In New York City and had the chance to see many great restaurants and unique ones in the city I later then moved to the Conyngham Valley learning how beautiful the Pocono area is. As most people I love the flavors of Mexican food and really had the chance to enjoy the south west flavors while I was stationed as a US Marine in southern California where I was able to take many trips to small towns in Mexico, Arizona, California and New Mexico. I found that there is so many variations of Mexican / south west foods but all are delicious.
