Think scallops just sit on the bottom of the ocean?

Think again! 😲

Scallops can actually swim! 🏊‍♂️

When they sense danger, they rapidly clap their shells together, squirting water out the back like a tiny underwater jet engine. It's their way of making a quick getaway from predators!

Nature is pretty amazing. 🌊

Scallop season is almost here, and we can't wait to welcome everyone back to Crystal River for another summer of snorkeling, sunshine, and unforgettable memories.

There was a time when you could look across Crystal River and see more mullet boats than tourist boats. 🎣🚤

Back when the mornings started before sunrise, the bait shops knew everyone by name, and a handshake was as good as a contract.

Crystal River has grown over the years, but that's part of what makes it so special. We love seeing new faces discovering our little slice of Old Florida while still celebrating the traditions that made this town what it is today.
