One of the hardest parts of owning a business isn’t the long hours, the stress, or even the responsibility…
It’s learning to let go.
When you build something from the ground up, you pour your heart into every detail. Every cake, every customer, every decision becomes personal. Handing over something you’ve always done yourself can be one of the scariest parts of growing.
For almost four years, Lindsey has shown up day after day with a heart that’s eager to learn, a willingness to work hard, and a commitment to doing things with excellence.
This week, while I was in Montana serving on a mission trip, I had to let go in a way I never have before.
For the first time ever, someone else completely finished our cakes. From start to finish.
That someone was Lindsey.
Lindsey didn’t just fill in while I was gone. She cared for our customers, protected the reputation of Cassie Cakes, and created cakes that I was genuinely proud to have leave our bakery.
As a business owner, there’s no greater compliment than being able to step away and know your business is in capable hands. Lindsey has earned that trust and not because it was given to her, but because she has worked for it every single day over the last four years.
Lindsey, thank you for believing in our little bakery, for caring about our customers as much as I do, and for proving that hard work, consistency, and a teachable spirit really do pay off.
The coolest part is that while Lindsey was at the bakery learning how to navigate these orders from start to finish, I was 2,600 miles away learning how to let go. A wise man (my husband 🤪) once told me… “Cassie, you have to learn to be okay with your employees making mistakes because that is how they learn to get better.” That’s always stuck with me.
Friends, can we do something special for Lindsey?
If you’ve ever been encouraged by her kindness, admired her work, or simply want to celebrate someone who’s worked incredibly hard, would you leave her a comment below? I want her to see just how appreciated she is. 🩷
