To say we are frustrated, disappointed, and upset by the recent incident involving Jeff is an understatement. Every word we’ve spoken and every word we’ve typed have not been written by an attorney or PR firm. They’re our words. Our message.
While we cannot discuss private legal or business matters publicly, we want to be clear: the assumptions and insinuations that we have not taken, or are not taking, action are simply untrue.
Something we failed to mention in our original statement is that action was already being taken well before the accusations, assumptions, and comments claiming otherwise. Our omission was unintentional, and in hindsight, unfortunate, because it allowed some to conclude that nothing was/is happening, when that was never, and is not, the case.
We have also seen comments suggesting that our efforts are merely "damage control." The reality is that we are addressing the consequences of a situation that was not created by us and was not within our control. However, how we respond, how we support those affected, and how we move forward are absolutely within our control. That is where our focus has been from the beginning, and that is where it remains today.
We have been, and continue to be, committed to handling this situation responsibly, ethically, morally, and within the bounds of the law. There are legal processes that must be followed, and meaningful action does not happen overnight or play out on social media for public consumption.
We have been working with Nikki and her family. They know where we stand, they know the actions being taken, and again, they have our full support.
We understand that you care deeply about what happened, as you should. You have every right to your opinions. However, we respectfully ask that people not mistake a lack of public details for a lack of action.
Not everything can or should be shared publicly, and that does not mean meaningful steps are not being taken. As we have said from the beginning, we are not okay with what Jeff did. His actions are not ours. He does not run this business. He is not employed by this business. He is not involved operationally. No matter the accusations, assumptions, etc., we always have been and always will remain committed to doing what is right, supporting Nikki and her family, and moving forward in a way that reflects our values. Those things are what truly matter.
We encourage everyone to lead with kindness, extend grace when facts are incomplete, and resist the urge to assume the worst based on limited information. Actions and words both matter, and we have been committed to both from the beginning, regardless of what has been said, will be said, or believed otherwise.
Sincerely, Michael and Nichole
