Juneteenth is more than a holiday. It’s a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.

While the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863, many enslaved people in Texas did not learn they were free until June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston and announced the end of slavery. That moment became known as Juneteenth, a day born right here in Texas that would grow into a national celebration of Black liberation, culture, achievement, and community.

This year, we’re honored to celebrate Juneteenth by centering Black artists, performers, and voices from across the DFW metroplex.

Join your host and producer, Nova Gina, for a Juneteenth takeover featuring two nights of Black Excellence:
