Des Moines’ 1st Kava Bar! + Organic Coffee, Smoothies, Smoothie Bowls, GF Waffles, Gelato, Mocktails We are located at 300 W. Martin Luther King Jr.

Kava is an herb from the South Pacific used as a tea and social drink for its calming effect. We use it Kava DSM to bring people together and enjoy a social setting without alcohol. Our Fall 2024 hours are Mondays through Thursdays 8AM to 1PM and 5PM to 8:30PM; Fridays 8AM to 9PM, Saturdays 9AM to 9PM and Sundays 9AM to 7PM. PKWY 140 next to Fuzzy Tacos, and Blaze Pizza. Parking up to two hours in the parking lot is validated in the café , free. Over two hours there is a parking fee.

This weekend was a really special one for our family, and we just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out and supported Kava DSM while we were away.

We didn’t announce it beforehand, but our entire family traveled to Boston to celebrate our oldest daughter, Cas, graduating from college. Cas is also a part of the Kava DSM team, so this was a huge milestone for all of us.

Believe it or not, this was actually the first time our entire family has gone away together since the summer after opening Kava. The first time we tried years ago, everything completely fell apart, and honestly, we were a little afraid to try again. We held our breath the entire trip wondering how things were going back home. It goes with the territory when you own a business!

Other than a few little espresso machine mishaps for a brief time, everything seemed to hold together just fine, and that is because of our amazing team and all of you.

Thank you for your grace, patience, kindness, and support as we transition into our summer team. Small businesses truly are community-built, and we never take that for granted.
