I’ve been waiting for just the right time to make this announcement, and for whatever reason, the night after riding out a hurricane seems as good a time as any! 🌪️ I mean, why not? 😆
So story time….
Some days you just need a little escape from the everyday. ☀️
Let’s be real, we all have bad days, busy days, and things going on in life that nobody else may even know about. And sometimes it’s the smallest things that can brighten your day or give you that little feeling of, ahhh… this is nice.
For me, it’s the smell of coffee in the morning, sunshine on my face, and some good 80s music playing probably a little louder than it needs to be.
And then there are those things that instantly take you back. The smell of Coppertone sunscreen does it for me every time. Suddenly, it’s 70’s summertime all over again.
Maybe yours is a song you haven’t heard in years. A smell from your grandmother’s house. Sitting around a table with family and friends. A favorite vacation spot. An old recipe. Or something completely random that nobody else would understand, but the second you see it, smell it, hear it, or taste it… you’re there.
I love how the simplest things can make us smile, bring back a memory, or give us a little break from everyday life.
And….. that’s a little bit of the feeling behind what we’ve been working on downtown, creating a place that can brighten your day, make you smile, and give you a little escape from the everyday.
For over a year, I’ve had this idea in my head that I just couldn’t let go of.
Not just a place but a feeling. Something fun. Something happy. Something that feels familiar in the best way.
And now it finally has an address.

GETAWAY CAFÉ feat. SUGAR SHACK is happening! ☀️
What started with acai bowls, sno cones, lemonade, and iced coffee in Destin, Fl. has somehow turned into a Getaway in Sulphur Springs, Tx!!!
We’ll be bringing all your Sugar Shack favorites along with a little something new! We will have a small breakfast and lunch menu, baked goods, and of course, all those sweet treats and refreshing drinks you already love!
A little taste of vacation, right here in downtown Sulphur Springs! 🌴☀️
Sugar Shack is staying on the road, so you’ll still find the trailer at festivals, events, parties, and wherever else she decides to show up. 😄
Now, I had plans to be a little further along by this point, but apparently God had a different schedule in mind! 😂
In the midst of moving, mind you, It’s like He hit the pause button on Thursday and said, “Hold up! Before you finish that café, and before you can go back to Texas with another load, I’m gonna need you to ride out a storm, LITERALLY!” 🤪🌪️
So, needless to say, we’re running a little behind schedule! But if there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s that things don’t always go according to our plans and life is just hard, a lot! Sometimes you just have to roll with it, find a little humor in the chaos, and keep moving forward.
And sometimes, a little sunshine is the perfect reminder that brighter days are ahead. ☀️
That’s really what Getaway Café is all about: finding a little sunshine and escaping from the everyday! ☀️

Sugar Shack will be set up right in front of our new storefront this Saturday, October 17, for Autumn on Main! 🍁
