I wanted to share a little update with all of you.
For the past several months, I’ve been working toward bringing something I’ve been dreaming about to Diamond Cakes: a traditional afternoon tea experience.
From collecting beautiful teacups and teapots to planning menus and imagining all the little details that would make the experience special, I’ve poured so much time, love, and excitement into bringing this vision to life.
Unfortunately, after months of working through the approval process and investing in equipment, I’ve recently learned about unexpected limitations with our building’s septic system that have made moving forward much more complicated than originally anticipated.
To say I’m disappointed would be an understatement.
When I opened Diamond Cakes, my dream was never just to sell cakes and pastries. I wanted to create a space where people could slow down, feel welcomed, enjoy something beautiful, and make memories. A place where the little details matter and where everyone feels like they’re being treated to something special.
And while the traditional afternoon tea experience I originally envisioned may need to be put on hold, that dream hasn’t changed.
So rather than giving up, I’ve been thinking about a few different ways we could bring something special to our little bakery. And I’d really love your thoughts!
🫖 Dapper’s Tea for Two
A beautifully curated box filled with delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, clotted cream, homemade jam, and an assortment of sweet treats. Available by preorder to enjoy in the comfort of your own home, or perhaps right here in our cozy little bakery.
🍰 The Diamond Cakes Tasting Experience
An intimate, reservation-only experience featuring five miniature portions of our signature and seasonal cakes, including one exclusive flavor created just for that month’s tasting. Guests would enjoy a thoughtfully arranged cake flight, accompanied by their choice of coffee or tea, while exploring the different flavors and inspirations behind each creation.
🌸 Dapper’s Afternoon Tea — Reimagined
Perhaps we don’t have to say goodbye to afternoon tea just yet! While traditional china service may not be possible right now, we could still create a beautiful afternoon tea experience with elegant, thoughtfully selected single-use tableware, delicate sandwiches, freshly baked scones, pastries, and, of course, tea.
It may look a little different from what I originally imagined, but the attention to detail, warm hospitality, and charm would still be at the heart of it all.

As a small business owner, every decision matters, and I always want to be thoughtful about what I bring into this space.
I’m not looking to rush into anything, especially with the busy holiday season approaching. My hope is to take this time to listen, explore our options, and hopefully bring something wonderful to Diamond Cakes in the new year.
