Can we be honest for a minute?
I wish more people—not just customers, but Vendors or Event Hosts in general—understood what it actually costs to take a food truck to an event.
Before we ever sell a single meal, we’ve already invested hundreds into making that day happen. We have to buy fresh ingredients, and with the price of meat these days, that alone is a huge expense. Then there’s propane, fuel, paper products, drinks, ice, prep time, payroll, travel, event fees, equipment maintenance, and so much more. It costs a LOT just to move our truck from one location to another.
So when we choose which events to attend, it’s never as simple as “just show up.” We have to sit down and ask ourselves if it makes financial sense while also giving us the opportunity to serve great food and create a memorable experience.
We don’t choose events just to make money. We choose them because we want people to experience Wok N Soul, spend time with our community, bring a crowd, support other vendors, and genuinely have a good time.
That’s why it can be frustrating when people ask, “Why don’t y’all come here?” or “Why didn’t y’all do this event?” The truth is, every event is a business decision. We have to consider every cost before we ever turn the key in the truck.
We’re incredibly grateful for every customer who supports us, shares our posts, tells a friend, or simply understands that behind every plate is a lot of hard work, sacrifice, and faith.
Thank you for continuing to support small businesses like ours. It truly means more than you know. ❤️
