History

Established in 1989. In 1927, construction began on the Tudor Revival house designed for auto

baron Irving Jacob Reuter and his wife, Janet. Reuter was General Manager and President of the Oldsmobile Corporation. of Lansing completed the 10,000 square foot house early the next year with "countryhouse" plans drafted by Harold Childs of East Lansing. Named "Medovue" by the Reuters, the property currently sits on 15 acres with the original pergola, swimming pool and gazebo as well as an artesian well, fishpond, annual and perennial gardens, and nature trails. In 1989 the property was renovated and converted to an Inn, restaurant and banquet hall. It is now owned by Gary and Donna Nelson. Once again, the gracious spirit of the past thrives throughout the Inn, with its wealth of fine antiques, massive fireplaces and handcrafted woods and, as it once was during the Reuter's tenure, fine dining and hospitality are the order of the evening at The English Inn.

Join us this Father’s Day for an elevated cookout on the terrace of The English Inn!

From 1pm-7pm, guests are invited to enjoy a thoughtfully curated menu featuring slow-smoked Texas brisket, coffee-rubbed pulled pork, and tender spare ribs.
These entrees will be paired with our house-made potato salad, vinegar coleslaw, Michigan Copper Sauce, and sweet barbecue sauce.
Alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase.
Dessert options including peach bourbon cobbler and a pecan pie bar will also be available for purchase for $10.

Reservations are RSVP style and are encouraged. Seating is on the Terrace of the Inn. Guests will place their order upon arrival and enjoy a casual, open seating dining experience and are encouraged to enjoy the grounds.

This past Sunday, Medovue Hall was filled with elegance, celebration, and the joy of gathering as we hosted a Mother’s Day Brunch. To accommodate MSU Graduation seating on Saturday, May 2nd, please note that pub seating will be unavailable for the evening. Terrace seating will remain available.
The Main Dining Room menu will be exclusively offered, and the pub menu will not be available.
Standard dinner reservations will be offered in the Main Dining Room by reservation only. Availability is limited.
