If I told you I just flew on a space ship with a permeable translucent see-through hull so large and fast that within the last hour I flew aboard my ride 500,000 miles, would you believe me?

Yup, and would you believe me if I said I took some of my friends with me to prove it? Would you think I was crazy and making up stories?

And the ship has a pretty cool engine too... it's powered by a virtually inexhaustable power source that keeps everyone fed, warm, and alive and wont run out of fuel for millions of years - crazy, right!?

I'm going to do it again... would you like to come along with me?

Mike :)

Am I the only one that finds putting a Russian astronaut on a U.S. launched rocket from Florida to the space station a little patronizing?

I mean, Putin is threatening America and Europe with the use of nukes in Ukraine. Putin is stopping energy flow to Europe as winter approaches. Putin is threatening Europe's very security and economy - and by extension, Americas. Putin is destroying Ukraine, killing thousands, and displacing millions... but Putin, and America, and the world is okay with Putin's peeps catching a ride aboard a U.S. rocket - like, no biggie, seperate mater, right? Am I the only one that thinks that's weird? I mean, how many sons of Ukrainian, or Russian, parents would rather have their son on a ride to the space station today instead of dead on a battlefield? I'm thinking one or two...

Just like the weirdness of stoping the Ukraine war, killing, etc., while the Ukrainian harvest was taken and shipped with next seasons crop sown... just a few weeks back. What's up with this? Are we blind to all this? Or, do we just not care?

I mean, am I the only one that finds it all just ridiculously insane... or, would another word for mass-patronizing be better?

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.. (AP) — For the first time in 20 years, a Russian cosmonaut rocketed from the U.S. on Wednesday, launching to the International Space Station alongside NASA and Japanese astronauts despite tensions over the war in Ukraine. “We’re so glad to do it together," said Anna Kikin...

Hmm, how fast the visionary future world of high tech employment with perks such as free breakfast / lunch, nap time, and work day ping-pong breaks between working meetings sipping catered on-site lattes, changes...

Google is now motivating its employees with "hit the numbers in Q3, or there will be blood on the streets?" (https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/news/google-executives-threaten-workers-with-layoffs-say-there-will-be-blood-on-the-streets-report/ar-AA10CQ5E?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=8a4e0bec1b5142dcb8b966b3a64609b8)

I was not sure what that meant, so, "I Googled it." This is what the Google search responded with: "San Francisco (US): As Big Tech companies begin to lay off employees in the global economic downturn, Google executives have reportedly warned workers to either boost performance or prepare to leave as "there will be blood on the streets" if the next quarterly earnings are not good."

Creating a caustic and fearful working environment that threatens employees is not what I would characterize as optimal (I know, an understatement). It underscores the depth and breadth of Google senior management's leadership limitations - pretty amature I would say. Something so ghoulish as that smacks of a cultish utopian environment that may work fine for some at first, but when circumstances start turning south, matters turn ugly fast... not good.

Time for a Google leadership change to navigate them through trying times with new leadership that embodies both strategic vision and empathy.

I've always felt that layoffs for not hitting "the numbers" is a failure on management's part - you know, the 7-figure guys with the job of providing "vision and leadership." My advice to the "minions" (I say that with true affection) is to use this moment to search their feelings about staying committed to such an enterprise. I always advise my loved ones to be shaping their backup plans, save for the rainy day, and seek equity control in a business that can't lay you off...

Though I run a small business, I have always had my mind on "how can I pay my folks more, how can I provide them with more opportunity?" I think this is the right mindset of a management team. I have always embraced that if my business ever fell on hard times, I would shut the lights off and lock the front door only "AFTER" every employee was paid in full. However, I always tell them, "keep your eyes open for new opportunity. I embrace the attitude that it is my job to make sure they have a stable job and income as long as they want to stay with The Mad Moose.... even in the slow times, I make sure they have a stable minimum paycheck.

It's about teambuilding folks... empathetic leadership that takes responsibility and ownership for the interests of the people that work there... I think its the right way.

Thoughts?

Just throwing a vote of confidence out there to the many people who work every day to keep us and America safe - thanks!

Having worked in that world for a long time, I say with confidence and faith that we have a lot of good and ethical people in all the Agencies that are designed to protect us from enemies foreign and domestic. These include Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Department of State, and yes, Department of Justice, to name a few.

Its true, once in a while you get a bad egg that needs to be weeded out, and they eventually are. But on the whole, our folks do a very good job - and there are many checks and balances in place to assure us they are doing their jobs responsibly.

As a nation of laws we place no civil servant outside of or above the law - this includes all elected officials - even the President. This is the way most of us want it to be - otherwise we would embrace dictators, thugs, and tyrants. Most of us don't want that (but beware, some folks do).

When there is reason to believe the law has been broken the matter is investigated and the law applied. So, have some confidence that our folks in the various agencies are behaving with America's interests and the laws that protect us in mind - which is not to say we should have blind faith, but the benefit of the doubt should be given until there is intelligent reason to question it.

In the case of former President Trump, I support the agencies empowered to transparently do their job responsibly and ethically and I have every reason to believe they are behaving appropriately because they are good honest people who want to do the right thing. There is nothing naive about that.

Proof of citizenship to register to vote.

Interesting article. I took a read to try and understand the arguement for not needing to provide proof of citizenship. The arguments against providing proof of eligibility for being able to vote are outlined in this article. Take a look: https://www.demos.org/research/how-do-proof-citizenship-laws-block-legitimate-voters

Folks, I do not recall ever seeing a weaker arguement in support of a position. Who writes this stuff?! Look, its this simple, if you want to vote, show proof of citizenship. The arguments for not producing proof of eligibility in my view hold no water.

Of all the problems we face, this one's a no brainer.
