Here are three fun facts about oysters:

🦪 Natural Water Filters:
Oysters are excellent natural water purifiers. A single adult oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day! They help improve water quality by removing impurities and excess nutrients from their environment, making them an essential species for maintaining healthy coastal ecosystems.

🦪Pearls of Nature:
Pearls are formed inside oysters as a defensive response to foreign objects like sand or debris that enter their shells. The oyster secretes layers of nacre (mother-of-pearl) around the irritant, gradually forming a pearl. While not all oysters produce pearls, those that do create these stunning gemstones.

🦪Remarkable Longevity:
Oysters can live for a surprisingly long time. Some species have been known to live up to 30 years or even more in the right conditions. They are highly adaptable creatures, capable of enduring fluctuating water temperatures and salinity levels, which contributes to their impressive lifespan.

Remember, oysters play a crucial role in marine ecosystems and have fascinating life cycles that make them a truly remarkable species.
