Hello Friends,

Hello friends ! We’re back ! Beginning Saturday May 9th, we will be open and ready to serve up
Jon’s fresh roasted coffee, lattes, cappuccinos,
smoothies and our new and locally made pastries.

We are really excited to be transforming
the upstairs into the “Tea Room Beneath the Mesa”. Our tea menu will include specialty hot and iced small batch teas, Non alcoholic
Mocktails made with fresh fruit and fruit juices,
espresso and botanicals. The “Tea Room Beneath the Mesa” will be open and ready to enjoy on June 6th.

Our “Music Beneath the Mesa” concert schedule:

May 16th- “Swing Into Summer” with Mud Leg.
6:00 pm, Admission $10.00

August 13th- “The Deltaz” will return with
their sultry summer blues. 6:00 pm
Admission $ 10.00.

In September the “Billyhawks” will once again
electrify the stage with their original tunes and fan favorites ! Date TBA.
6:00 pm Admission $10.00.

Some moments from the past reveal the values that shape a lifetime. In 1963, 21-year-old Bernie Sanders was arrested by Chicago police while taking part in a protest against school segregation, according to the Chicago Tribune.

He stood alongside hundreds of Black parents and students who spoke out against "Willis Wagons." These were mobile classrooms used to keep Black students out of white-only schools that still had available space. The protest focused on fairness and equal access to education.

Sanders was arrested and charged with resisting arrest. He was found guilty and fined $25. No matter how people feel politically, many recognize that Sanders has shown long-standing consistency in his beliefs on civil rights, equality, and fairness.
