Iowa Food Systems Council The Iowa Food Systems Council cultivates a just and diverse food system which supports healthier Iowans, communities, economies and the environment.

The destiny of Iowa is greatly dependent on how we nourish ourselves. How Iowa feeds its people, especially children, determines the health, economic, ecological and social capacity to support future generations. The Iowa Food Systems Council (IFSC), formerly known as the Iowa Food Policy Council, is a member-based non-profit organization whose charge is to monitor Iowa’s food and health landscape

, coordinate connections between food system leaders and decision-makers, and identify policies, programs and research that cultivate a resilient and sustainable food system which supports healthier Iowans, communities, economies and environments. The 17-member Board of Directors represents diverse food system sectors and government agencies. Five working groups focus on monitoring the gaps, needs and opportunities across food system sectors and forward policy, program and research recommendations to the Board.
