WOW, Elwood… thank you.

We are incredibly grateful for the amazing response to our “Help Us Name Elwood’s Historic Restaurant Contest”. The creativity, pride, and love this community has shown for this historic location has been truly overwhelming.

We received so many thoughtful and meaningful name ideas, each one reflecting the rich history, traditions, and spirit of Elwood. From our railroad roots to our industrial heritage and community pride, your submissions reminded us just how special this place really is.

Now comes the difficult part.

We have assembled a cross-functional group of local citizens and community voices to help us carefully review every submission and narrow the list down to our finalists. This won’t be easy, because there are so many fantastic ideas to consider.

We’re excited for the next step and can’t wait to continue this journey with all of you as we work together to help name Elwood’s most historic restaurant.

Stay tuned for the next phase, where the community will once again help shape the future of this iconic location.

Help Us Name Elwood’s Next Restaurant!
We recently acquired a historic restaurant location in Elwood that has served the community for over 100 years and has gone by many different names over the decades, but Tasty Burger is the most recent.
Now we want the community to help decide the next name!
To help manage the contest and keep everything in one place, all entries must be submitted through the Tasty Burger page. This page will morph into the new restaurant as we progress with the reopening.
Grand Prize: $500 Cash
How To Enter
Submit your restaurant name idea in the comments on this official contest post on the Tasty Burger page.
⚠️ Important:
• This contest is being managed only through the Tasty Burgerpage
• No other submissions will be accepted
Entry Requirements
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must submit your entry in the comments on this post and “written” inspiration on why you believe the name would represent this restaurant
• Must provide your name and contact information via private message to the page after submitting
• Limit 2 entries per person
• Names must be original and suitable for trademark registration
Submissions will start March 21st at 8:00 am until 5:00 pm March 31st
Selection Process
1. After submissions close, a panel of local community members will review all entries and narrow them down to five finalists.
2. The community will then vote to determine the winning name.
3. Finalists must sign a release granting all naming rights to the restaurant owners before their entry can move forward. This ensures the name can be legally used and trademarked.
Inspiration
Ideas inspired by the history of Elwood are encouraged, including themes related to:
The historic railroad depot and crossroads of the city
The tin mill and glass industry
The Indiana Gas Boom
The tomato canning heritage and Red Gold
Local history and community traditions
We’re excited to see the creativity from this community and find a name that honors the history of Elwood while building something great for the future.
