Thanks to all for your e-mails, phone calls and concern for us; it is very appreciated.

As for now, we remain open. Smoke is an issue and comes and goes in waves; various apps indicate it is due to diminish which would be wonderful. The fires are serious and demand respect; we are fortunate to not be affected by the evacuations in place.

Guests who have been with us from the beginning and stayed are all grateful that the extreme heat has passed. Nicole has the kitchen open and ready to serve our guests + visitors. Lou just shared a video of a loon down in the bay catching a good-sized fish ….An adorable almost three year old just in The Lodge innocently said to her mom, “I can smell the sky” .

Remaining positive with appreciation,

Lonnie and Lou + All

Firsts ....The arrival of spring up north is full of firsts: The first sighting or sound of the loons on the lake, the first day the lake is ice free, the first boat in the water; the list goes on and on. Today, April 29th, did bring the first loons (a pair) into the bay; this photo unfortunately shows them in the midst of a big, really fluffy snowfall. If the temperatures were warmer this could have been the day the lake did go ice free; but not. It's chilly and that first will likely come another day really soon.
