Bonaccorsi 2019 Fiddlestix Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Rita Hills

The single vineyard 2019 Pinot Noir Fiddlestix Vineyard comes from a great site in the Sta. Rita Hills and was all destemmed and aged 20 months in 20% new French oak. It has a darker, meaty style in its red plum and framboise fruits as well as notes of underbrush, dried herbs, and earth. These all carry to a medium-bodied, elegant Pinot Noir with fine tannins, good overall balance, and a great finish.

From one of Santa Barbara's finest small producers Bonaccorsi - highly recommended but limited.

From our original vineyard sites. Dark matte ruby color, with a flash of brick at the rim. Clear and medium bright. Very fragrant and exotically spiced; full of freshly crushed, deep and dusky red plum, strawberry and raspberry, dried flowers, black tea, cracked black pepper, and savory cured meat.

The 2019 Bonaccorsi Fiddlestix Vineyard Pinot Noir is a highly aromatic and elegant red from California's Sta. Rita Hills. Sourced from the prestigious Fiddlestix Vineyard and priced around $50, it is celebrated for its deep red plum, strawberry, and earthy undertones paired with exotic spices.
• Pairings: The earthy and spicy complexity makes this wine an excellent match for poultry (duck, turkey), mushrooms, game, and soft cheeses. [1]

Mike’s first vintages were some of the highest rated Pinot Noir and Syrah wines. His wines have been served at the White House and some of the finest restaurants in the United States.

2023 Alfaro "Trout Gulch Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay

A personal friend of Chef Jim, Richard Alfaro and I started our culinary careers in Santa Cruz in the late 80’s and became fast comrades …he later went into the winemaking career and has really made a name for himself in the region…Cheers Richard!

97 pts Jeb Dunnuck …The vintage’s long, cool growing season is on full display in the 2023 Chardonnay Trout Gulch Vineyard, picked over a week at the end of October. Stainless steel-fermented before being aged nine months in old wood, it combines the grapes from the beginning of the pick and grapes from mid-to-late pick. There’s so much acidity across the board, it’s just outstanding, super-linear, and citrus-heavy, with lasting highlights of lemon peel, grapefruit, and wet stone, light-bodied, complex, and tasting of the sea. Drink now through 2040.

The 2023 Chardonnay Trout Gulch Vineyard was harvested in late October and underwent fermentation in a stainless steel tank, followed by maturation in neutral barrique with complete malolactic fermentation. It is pure, citrus-driven and saline on the nose, introducing an elegantly broad palate with an underlying tensile strength and an electric, soaring finish. It's a vibrant, transparent expression of a stellar vintage.

Winemaker Notes
Bright aromas of raspberry, cherry, cardamom and cocoa permeate the glass followed by notes of cinnamon and Earl Grey tea. Nicely balanced tannins lead to flavors of mulberry, ganache, berry compote and Allspice. It has a whimsical softness on the front palate with a velvety mid-palate and sweet fruit finish.
Blend: 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petite Verdot

A linear and lively red with currant, blackberry and chocolate aromas and flavors, Full-bodied, but solid and poised. Nicely framed, despite being big and rich. Drinkable now, but better in 2024
Suckling rates this the top vintage of the Panza ever (above even 2018).
But the real point to this is: it’s a Philippe Melka Cabernet from the very best and original core part of Stags Leap where NO other Cabs are less than $100…and most are a lot more than that. Like the top Cabernet, this is just the pure essence of Stags Leap gorgeousness.
Aromas of cherry, menthol, orange blossom and violet bound out of the glass with flavors of cherry and raspberry hitting the front of the palate giving way to chocolate, cocoa, and leather on the finish. A medium-bodied Cabernet with soft tannins on the approach, building to a juicy finish with bright acids. Open now and enjoy it for lunch or dinner.

2020 Montepeloso "A Quo" Super Tuscan, Toscana, Italy…
Montepeloso "A Quo" Toscana is an exceptional entry-level red blend from the renowned Montepeloso estate, located in Suvereto, Tuscany. Crafted with the same attention to detail and quality as their higher-end wines, "A Quo" is a blend of several varieties, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, Montepulciano, Sangiovese, and Alicante, resulting in a wine that is both approachable and complex. It offers a snapshot of the estate’s commitment to producing wines with depth, balance, and a strong sense of terroir. On the nose, "A Quo" presents vibrant aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, and plums, along with hints of herbs, to***co, and a touch of spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a lively acidity that balances the richness of the dark fruit flavors. Earthy undertones and a hint of minerality add to its complexity, leading to a long, clean finish. "A Quo" is versatile in food pairings, making it an excellent match for a wide variety of dishes, from grilled meats and pasta with rich sauces to roasted vegetables. While ready to enjoy now, it can also benefit from a few years of aging, offering great value and showcasing the Montepeloso estate’s expertise in creating wines that reflect the best of Tuscany.

The wine exhibits a dark bright color. The nose is dominated by dark red fruits, herbal notes, intermixed with spicy aromas and mineral notes. On the palate there is a nice tension. The texture is mineral combined again with hints of black fruits and aromatic woods.

A little oaky on first nose, the A Quo is a robust red blend based primarily on Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. The quality of the primary fruit is succulent, plump and rich. So are the background aromas of cinnamon, vanilla bean and toasted almond. This was a good vintage across Tuscany. The finish is exceedingly rich and supple with firmly yielding tannins.

A firm and silky red with blueberry and blackberry character, a medium body. A dense wine that also shows vivid acidity. Lovely, fruity red with cherries, berries and some stone and sandalwood. It’s full and soft-textured with round tannins. Drink or hold.

The 2020 A Quo is an absolutely gorgeous, entry-level offering from Montepeloso. It provides generous red berry fruit, crushed flowers, mint, blood orange and leather, all in a mid-weight, exuberant style that is so appealing

“The 2023 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills Old Vines blossoms in the glass, where balsamic-tinged black cherries mingle with dried roses, nuances of gravel dust and a hint of clove. This wine is seamless and elegant, silken in texture, with a solid core of minerals to balance citrus-infused wild berry fruits that slowly saturate the palate. The 2023 Pinot Noir Old Vines comes from vines averaging around 50 years in age in the Maresh and Weber vineyards. The nose is a deep well of bramble berry, plum, amaro, mossy bark and earth. Medium-bodied, it floods the mouth with supple layers of ripe, spicy fruit. It’s balanced by bright, mouthwatering acidity and has a long, flavorful finish. 94 pts Robert Parker

Wine Advocate says: “If Oregon vineyards were classified like Burgundy Maresh would certainly be a Grand Cru. The philosophy at Arterberry Maresh adheres to old vine Dundee Hills fruit, alcohols under 14% (preferably mid 12 to lower 13%), new oak kept under 15% on Pinot, no pumping, no fining, no filtering, no acidulating, no watering. The goal is purity of fruit and naturality expressing terroir with elegance and ageworthiness.”

Somm Select says: “Cellar wizard Jim Arterberry Maresh, a third-generation Dundee Hills grower, has raised the bar to a seemingly insurmountable height, producing nuanced, aromatically complex, and wonderfully pure Pinot Noirs that everyone can afford. We’ve offered and sold through them over the years, but today’s special bottling is a first—an affordable “upgrade” if you will. The “Old Vines” displayed on the front label is the sole clue: Maresh’s 2023 comes from two of the oldest and most sought-after vineyard sites in all of Willamette Valley. Unfortunately, this distinguished cuvée has been produced just two other times, as they only wanted 40+-year-old vines fueling this tremendous, if not historic, Pinot Noir. Furthermore, they’re not made in substantial quantities and each release has garnered eye-popping scores that have only quickened the velocity in which they sell out. The choice is yours, of course, but when there’s a rare chance to secure a profound, old-vine Pinot Noir from a Burgundy-toppling region for under $65, it’s not really much of a choice!

Sierra Cantabria Crianza 2021
Tempranillo from Rioja, Spain

Sierra Cantabria Crianza is the flagship age-classified Rioja bottling produced by the Eguren family of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. While the family is most well known for their single cru classified bottlings, they produce outstanding ageing classified wines from their estate vineyards in San Vicente. While this category is dominated by blends of purchased fruit sourced from many growers across the entire appellation, the Eguren family are one of the few (if not the only) families in Rioja that produce an estate grown and bottled Crianza from a single village - in this case, San Vicente de la Sonsierra, one of the most respected villages for Tempranillo in Spain.

A village wine sourced from estate sites in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida, the 2021 Crianza is all Tempranillo grown in an extreme diversity of soils. Freshness and finesse are the markers of the area, and both are well represented here. Medium-bodied power supports generous, velvety layers of ripe raspberry complemented by an undercurrent of chocolate and wood spice. Pretty, there’s a hint of saline and leather that lead to a lengthy finish.

The pure Tempranillo 2021 Crianza, a modern classical red from a great year, shows the power, elegance and freshness of the year, with pristine fruit and very integrated oak after it spent 14 years in barrel, some of them American. It has tension and the elegant tannins from the year. It's approachable and will also be long lived. This is one of the finest years for this red.

Spiced plums, cherries and berries with some licorice. Good acidity makes this medium-bodied Rioja a very drinkable and enjoyable wine. Juicy, medium-long finish with fine-boned tannins.

The 2021 Crianza Sierra Cantabria from San Vicente de la Sonsierra was aged for 14 months in French and American oak. The fruit-driven nose presents sour cherry, plum and subtle freshness. It's creamy and full-bodied on the generous, nuanced palate enhanced by the cool vintage.

Sterling Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Winemaker's Notes
The power of Napa shows in the rich, deeply red garnet color with aromas and flavors of dark red and black fruits, including black cherry, raspberry, blackberry and ripe plum. Notes of mocha, oak spice and cassis are accented with sea salt caramel and vanilla bean. Intense and full-bodied, the wine is balanced and well-structured with seamless acidity and evident but pleasing tannins. Approachable and welcoming now, the wine will continue to evolve and reveal more of its personality over the next decade.

Delicious, broad and chocolaty, this almost-sweet wine is plush and indulgent. Rich in blackberries, baked cherries, milk chocolate and spearmint on soft tannins and a full body.

This is nicely rendered, with a mix of gently mulled red and black currant fruit entwined with light sassafras, vanilla and anise notes. Fruit keeps the upper hand through the finish as the other notes meld in.

This is a drink-me-now wine with approachable tannins and a balanced acidity. Find aromas and flavors of roasted coffee, toasted wood, blackberry, black cherry, black currant, black pepper, anise and nutmeg spice.

The Sterling Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a brooding, dark garnet-red color in the glass with big fruit aromas of blackberry jam, ripe plum and notes of cassis. The nose leads to a full-bodied, concentrated, richly textured palate with flavors of dried black cherry, warm caramel and a pleasing umami character. The wine is dense and offers striking fruit intensity balanced with good acidity and fine, well-integrated tannins. The wine is seamless and offers a lengthy finish that hints at its ability to age for at least the next 10 to 15 years.
