We had a voice phishing scam scare at the cafe today.

Someone called pretending to be the police, claimed I was in jail over counterfeit bills, then pressured our staff to check the till and answer questions about cash in the store.

Thankfully, I walked in while the call was happening, which made the whole story fall apart pretty quickly.

It was a good reminder that scams like this are not just digital anymore. They can target small businesses, staff, and store operations directly.

Train your team. Have a verification process. Never share cash, employee, or security info over the phone.

Just having some time to myself at the café. I don’t get nearly enough opportunities to sit back and enjoy the space I built, so moments like this are rare. It’s nice to slow down, take it all in, and find a little peace amid the constant pace of running a business.
