Earlier this month we were able to present a donation check to The Door youth shelter.
This was a portion of our Thursday sales for the month of April. Thank you to all who helped contribute!!

Do you know about The Door and the services they provide to the community? The advocates there really do amazing work, and are truly unsung heroes!

This is a youth emergency shelter and support program in downtown Fairbanks. It provides a safe place for youth who are homeless, have run away, are experiencing family conflict, or need temporary shelter and support. The shelter operates 24 hours a day and works with young people to help stabilize their situation, reconnect with family when appropriate, and access services such as counseling, education, and case management.
They provide meals, routines, clothes, and so much
more.

Beyond all of that’s listed above, the staff really does go above and beyond for these children and teens. They give them structure and safety when home isn’t a safe place to be.

Being a foster parent in the past, I have personally witnessed the incredible work these folks provide to such a vulnerable and at risk part of our community.

Ok, we wanted to give a heads up to our Turtle Fam of some recent changes with the bowls.

We are temporarily out of our normal mini bowl containers, so you’ll notice our minis being served in new 8oz bowls for the time being.

A lot of people may not realize this, but our minis were originally designed to be more of a small snack / kid-sized bowl…and honestly, over time we started PACKING them so full they were getting pretty close to full-size portions 😅

The new bowls will help us keep portions more consistent while still giving you a great little Zen Turtle fix.

Every Thursday in May, The Zen Turtle will donate 10% of all açai sales to the We Defy Foundation — an amazing organization that provides athletic scholarships to combat veterans through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

For many veterans, transitioning out of the military can mean losing the camaraderie and brotherhood that was a huge part of their life, for so long.

We Defy helps restore that connection through intense BJJ training and community on the mats.

So every bowl you enjoy on Thursdays this month helps support veterans in rebuilding confidence, connection, and resilience. 🍓🫐🥥
