It’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day.

Easy to rush past the small moments. Easy to forget what we already have.

But those small moments are the reason we started Refuge Coffee back in 2010 in Antigua Guatemala.

A cup of coffee with a friend.

A quiet moment with your Bible in hand.

A short pause in the middle of the day.

We believe those moments are gifts.

Small daily gifts from our Creator.

If you slow down, you start to see it; the small blessings that show up in the middle of every day ordinary life.

Whether you stop in for a coffee today or not, we love you. God loves you.

And he sees you and has a plan for your life. He’s always seen you, and he will always see you.

Praying and believing for a blessed day today friend.

It was a Friday morning in Fairhope.

The streets were quiet, the crowds hadn’t arrived yet.

You walk into Refuge coffee.

There are a few people in there. One on their laptop, a couple of people having a hushed conversation, the music is quiet but not too quiet.

You walk up to the register, and before you could gather your thoughts the barista smiles and said, “good morning, what can we get started for you today?”

You sit there.

What do you want today?

You just read the latest Refuge email, so maybe you want an Italian style Espresso…

You just had a signature yesterday, but that’s a bit too sweet for the morning.

The barista is still standing there, half smiling, waiting for your response.

You read through the menu…

And then the only words you can muster are…

“Cappuccino”.

GUESS WHICH MILK THIS WAS POURED WITH

(Hint: you’re probably wrong)

Latte art is like a wax seal on an envelope. It isn’t necessary, but it’s a mark of quality.

Why?

Because there are SO many factors that go into pouring a basic design.

The milk has to be the right temperature..

Too hot, and it will over bubble and look soapy. Too cool and it’ll be too watery and liquidy.

There has to be the EXACT amount of air added to the milk when steaming.

So the fact that this pour was oat milk… oh shoot I just gave it away.

Is absolutely incredible!
