Men's Breakfast Club Meets @ 7:30 a.m. Every Thursday Morning

Since June 2009 some of the men of our church have been meeting for breakfast as a way to touch base during the week for some mutual encouragement, Scripture reading, devotion and prayer. Guided by the Apostle Paul’s tutelage of Timothy to “devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture” we sought to leave the comfort of our church building so that we could meet more publicly.

Thursday's (May 28, 2026) devotion* is entitled:
"Opportunities to Trust God"

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

Personal Application: Where are you on your journey today and what are you focused on? How can your challenges become opportunities to grow in your faith? Take some time to talk to God right now. Give Him your concerns, fears, and burdens, so you can focus on trusting Jesus.

"Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching."

Fear can easily take hold of us if we don’t fix our gaze on Christ, especially in the midst of danger or trials.

"Leaving It to the Pros"

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 3:15 NIV
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,"

Personal Application: When have you shared the message of salvation with someone? Who needs that message today? Don’t leave it up to “the pros.” Get in God’s Word, spend time with Him, and ask Him to equip and lead you. Then, be ready to start a conversation.

Many believers think evangelism is best left to pastors, priests, missionaries, and church workers – after all, they are the “real pros.”

If we handle frustration like everyone else, we cannot expect the peace and hope to see us through the trials of life. We can expect misery.

Thursday's (April 16, 2026) devotion* is entitled:
"Authentic Manhood"

Scripture Reading: 1 Co 10:31–11:1 ESV
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved. Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

Personal Application: Imitating Jesus requires following Him. This week, commit to reading God’s Word and praying every day and spending time regularly with other men who choose to be imitators of Christ. How do you define manhood? In what ways are you imitating Christ?

Thursday's (April 9, 2026) devotion* is entitled:
"Are You Paying Attention?"

Scripture Reading: John 10:27-28 NKJV
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone sn**ch them out of My hand."

Personal Application: Like the Shepherd who carried his sheep to safety, trust in our Lord to carry you when you are fearful or feel stuck in your present situation. Which sheep in the story most parallels your posture with God today? How can you be sure you’re paying attention to where He is leading you?

Thursday's (March 26, 2026) devotion* is entitled:
"A Stockpile of Hope"

Scripture Reading:
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13, ESV)

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15–16, ESV)

Personal Application: Don’t battle discouragement alone. Talk to God about it and share your struggle with your spiritual mentor or a mature Christian friend. What lies does the accuser tell you to discourage you? What encouraging scripture have you stockpiled?
