It’s that time again! May 2nd is the Classic Cars & Coffee Show, hosted by us, created by Tom. Come hang with Tom, grab a drink, eat barbecue, and see some amazing cars! This year Tom is collaborating with and extending the show to the Texas Wesleyan parking lot. This gives you a chance to buy some fresh produce while you cruise the parking lot.

We are so excited to host our Earth Day Celebration on April 22nd and are grateful for our incredible partners who work alongside us to make this event possible.

A huge shoutout to Black Coffee, Fort Worth Environmental Services and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for helping us keep our community clean and safe!

♻ Fort Worth Environmental Services: They are providing the shred truck and the Crud Cruiser! This is your chance to safely dispose of paper documents, electronics and household hazardous waste (think old paint, batteries, and chemicals) so they stay out of our landfills.

💊 The DEA: As part of the National Prescription Drug Take Back, they will be on-site to help you safely dispose of unneeded medications.

📍 Event Details:
When: April 22, 2026 | 9 AM – 12 PM
Where: 1417 Vaughn Blvd., Fort Worth, TX 76105

Let’s work together to protect our planet. See you there!

To wrap up our National Women’s History Month series, we are saving one of the best for last. We’ve spent the month celebrating the incredible impact of local women-owned businesses in District 11, and today, we conclude our journey by shining the spotlight on Mia Moss, the visionary behind Black Coffee in East Fort Worth.

Mia’s love for coffee began right after high school. While working at a local shop, she fell in love with the craft and discovered how coffee serves as a powerful conversation starter. Years later, while visiting various cafes, she realized she always had to hop on the freeway to find a local spot. That was her "aha" moment: it was time to open her own shop on the Eastside.

Despite being told by others in the industry that her shop wasn't a "good idea," Mia pushed forward. Today, Black Coffee is celebrating seven years of success. It has become a popular community hub for the Poly Heights area, hosting small business markets and supporting local nonprofits like Community Frontline and Create + Collaborate.

As an entrepreneur, Mia has learned to balance her business needs with her personal well-being. She emphasizes the importance of giving herself grace and quiet time so she can show up fully for her customers and employees.
When asked what advice she would give women entrepreneurs, she said:

"Be afraid and do it anyway. Ask for those one-on-one meetings... talk to the Chambers and ask your friends and family to support you. Being afraid is normal. Don’t let it stop you."

Mia, thank you for being a champion for the Eastside and a role model to women across Fort Worth!
