The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has issued the following press release:

On Sunday evening July 19 2020 at approximately 7:15pm Franklin County Deputies were working a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 85 near exit 164 in Carnesville. A vehicle driven by Abdulhafiz Tawfik Abdullahi was traveling south bound. Abdullahi’s vehicle left the road and struck Deputy Sheriff William “Bill” Garner. Deputy Garner was transported to St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia where he died from the injuries. Aduullahi was charged with First Degree Vehicular Homicide. He is being held at the Franklin County Detention Center awaiting his first appearance hearing.
Deputy Garner had been with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for just over one year. He was 53 years old and leaves behind his wife, parents and a brother.

A hero can be defined as “a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.” When I hear this definition, I cannot help but pair it with my father.

I love spending time with him. He never talks about politics or worthless ideas. Instead, he dreams about building churches, reliving one building project after another. He spends hours in prayer. He wakes up every morning at 4:00AM to pray, and because of that, many tangible and verifiable healings have occurred in his ministry. He believes that you cannot truly live your fullest potential without the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
He planted 11 churches throughout Haiti, reaching out to their communities. He started 7 schools, providing quality education for the children, and jobs for the communities. He fed children and drilled wells for the poor.

Of all the men I have ever met, there is no man I respect, admire and love as much as my dad.
If my friends consider me half the man my father is, I will consider myself a success in life.
