⚠️ His vehicle le has been recovered near woody gap abandoned with keys in. A woman called us from Franklin, NC saying she got our number from Fred and he had hitched a ride in off the trail there. I flew up and have searched the town 3 days now. If you live in the area, I am begging you look for him and call 911 if you see him. Local sheriff's are also searching and he has been seen several times by people who were unaware he's missing. He's hungry and only has a sleeping roll on him. Offer him a meal and slyly call 911 while you do so. I'm here and ready to take my brother home for help!!! ⚠️

Please pay attention on the trails!
My brother Fred Schaltenbrand has been missing from Florida since the morning of August 11th. We now know as of today August 20th he was seen buying gear at Neels gap on Friday August 16 which puts him in a 40-80 mile range from there if he started the trail. He needs help ASAP. He is experiencing mental psychosis and may not know where he is. He through hiked in 2004 but he prepped for 6 months for that. This time he just went out with nothing ( his gear was found abandoned on Blood Mountain)
