💯❤️
As inflation continues to rage on, and minimum wage increases, and rent goes up, and butter, eggs, vanilla, heavy cream, and chocolate are at a fu***ng premium, yes, we have raised our prices.
Tell me why it’s acceptable to shell out $5 for a Starbucks latte, but a $5 Vegan cupcake deserves a scoff. Explain to me why it’s completely “normal” to drive through some fast food joint and hand them $30 for some mediocre fries and once frozen burgers, but a $30 total at a bakery where everything is made from scratch, has people seeing red.
People need to understand that small businesses are doing their best to try and keep up, but in order for me to pay a livable wage to my people, keep my fu***ng lights on, and produce amazing goods, I have to raise my prices just like every large corporation does, every fu***ng year.
“$200 for a CAKE?! No thanks!”
“Did your prices increase?! That’s ridiculous for a cupcake!”
“Hahahaha!!! Are you serious? That much for a dozen custom cupcakes?!”
What we offer at Hive is the best of the best. Everything is made by a small team of individuals that give a s**t about the quality of the food and art we offer. Our prices are higher than Walmart because they can’t produce what we can. Everything we create is made with integrity and skill that’s second to none, and I charge accordingly. We work hard. Food industry at this current moment in time, is no fu***ng joke. I have an almost full staff whom I consider family, and together we’re still making it happen, but it’s tough out here.
If you’re a small biz owner, you have to pay your people a livable wage. In order to do that, you have to raise your prices. Offer the best and they’ll keep coming back. Patrons, be understanding of what’s happening worldwide in this industry. Your sandwich may be $2 more than usual, your cookie may be more expensive, or your smoothie an extra $1. We’re trying to stay open and give our employees what they deserve. We’re trying to keep up with large corporations at a time when it seems impossible. If we don’t get support from all of you, small businesses will be lost. The little guys will fall to the machine.
