Monday is Memorial Day. SGT will be closed.

The day is for those who didn't come home.

Two ways to remember in our community:

1. Gahanna's Memorial Day Ceremony — a procession through four cemeteries, a wreath-laying at the Creekside bridge, and closing at Veterans Memorial Park. Organized by VFW Tri-Community Post 4719 and American Legion Post 797. Full schedule at gahanna.gov.

2. National Veterans Memorial and Museum - Annual Remembrance Ceremony, 10 AM. Ryan Manion of the Travis Manion Foundation , keynote.

Spend the morning remembering. We'll see you Tuesday.

Proud to share this. Savannah Lewie started Gahanna Cinnamon Swirls in her kitchen last August. We’ve carried her work on our counter daily ever since opening our brick-and-mortar — and they don’t last long.

This is what a civic coffeehouse looks like. We make the coffee. Our neighbors make the rest.

Earned, not given.

A patch. A Norwich Township Fire patch. And a Tactical EMS patch from the medics who roll into the hard calls beside them.

We were out at shift change this morning, pouring for the crews coming on and the crews coming off — sponsored by and .snyder.realtor , who put this together because they wanted to say thank you in a way that meant something at 6:30 AM.

It did. The crews were grateful. We came home with three patches.

Thank you, Liam and Ashley, for thinking of them.
Thank you to the men and women who do the work — the ones in uniform, the ones in turnout gear, and the ones who carry trauma bags into places most of us will never see.

We were honored to be on station.

Lauren’s last shift before summer break is next week.

On Sunday she graduated from The Ohio State University with her bachelor’s in Business Administration and a specialization in Marketing (The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business) — a year early, thanks to the work she put in during high school. This summer she’s stepping into a role as the Media and Communications Intern for Jersey Church in New Albany, where she’ll be telling that community’s story and helping bring people deeper into the work the church is doing.

We’re proud of her. We’re going to miss her behind the bar — until she’s back this fall.

Before she heads out, we asked Heather to write something:
“My favorite memory with Lauren is when we worked a 10-hour event together over the holidays. It was pure chaos. I also don’t think I’ve ever laughed as much or as hard at work as I did that day. Lauren keeps me grounded and reminds me not to take things too seriously. (She’s also helped me perfect the art of the cortado.) I can’t wait to see how she uses her faithfulness, steadiness, and joy in life after college — and for all the memories still to come.”

That’s the kind of teammate Lauren has been. Steady. Joyful. Faithful in the ordinary work that no one sees. The kind of person you want next to you when a 10-hour shift goes sideways.

If she’s served you over the past year and you want to send her off well — stop by next week before her last shift. We saved her a chair.

In the Army, a Sergeant (SGT) is considered the backbone.

Brandi is the backbone of our family — and therefore the backbone of our family business.

She inspires. She remembers your name. She thinks about you over dinner — yes, you, our customers. Hoping your family is well. Wondering how the surgery went. Wanting to make your next visit special.

Without Brandi, there's no Ryan and Brandi. There's no SGT Coffee Co.

She's our bedrock. Our HR. And her favorite spot in the shop is behind the register, so she can talk to our customers, share a story, and pass a smile across the counter.

We love you. Happy Mother's Day, Brandi.
