πŸŽ‰πŸŽ That’s a Wrap on Free Summer Meals 2026! πŸ”β˜€οΈ

Today marks the final day of our Free Summer Meals program, and what an incredible summer it has been!

The Food Truck will be at Lexington Square from 12:45pm-1:30pm
Chalmers Cafeteria will serve lunch from 10:30am-12:15pm
Gainesville High School will serve lunch from 11:30am-12:30pm

Over the past several weeks, we have had the privilege of serving hundreds of smiling faces, sharing delicious meals, and connecting with families throughout our community. From pizza days and cheeseburgers to macaroni and cheese and all the fun in between, every meal was served with a side of care and community spirit.

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing staff, community partners, and families who made this summer such a success. Most importantly, thank you to all the kids who stopped by each dayβ€”we loved seeing you!

As we say goodbye to summer meals, we’re already looking forward to welcoming students back to our cafeterias when school starts. Until then, have a safe, fun, and wonderful rest of your summer!

We definitely FLIPPED out πŸ₯ž today during our annual Discovery Kitchen at the Cooke County Library!

This year we read β€œPlent of Pancakes” which is all about making pancakes to share and allll the toppings that go on top. So…. We made some toppings! We made butter AND whipped cream out of heavy whipping cream by shaking it. We shook the butter for about 5-8 minutes until the fat had separated from the liquid and the whipped cream only took about 3 minutes and we added sugar and vanilla extract into the cup to make it taste just like whipped cream. We even had strawberries to go on top cause why not πŸ“. CHECK OUT THE RECIPES IN THE PICTURES.

Today, Wednesday, June 24, is the last day of meals at the Cooke County Library!

Stop by anytime between 11:30am-12:15pm for Roasted Chicken and Mashed Potatoes πŸ—πŸ₯”. There will also be a reader πŸ“– today at 11:30am, so get in line one last time and listen to a good book while you chow down.

Don’t forget the Discovery Kitchen at the Cooke County Library is also today at 12:30pm, so if you are registered for that, we will see you there!

Don’t forget to walk, run, or flip πŸ₯ž on over to the Cooke County Library tomorrow, June 24, at 12:30pm for the Discovery Kitchen featuring the book β€œPlenty of Pancakes”.

This event is by reservation only, so we hope you called ahead and reserved your spot because all spots are officially full!

Free meals for kids 18 & under will be served at the library 11:30am-12:15pm! Grab the free meal then head on into the Discovery Kitchen.

Week 4 of free summer meals gives us a total of 2,129 meals in the Gainesville community!

We only have 1 week left of free summer meals for kids & teens 18 & under so we hope week 5 will be the best one yet.

We always get so sad when summer meals come to an end, but once again, we would love to thank every child nutrition team member for serving our community, as well as the community and every parent and child who has come to see us throughout the summer.

It's a HOT one out there today! With temperatures soaring, we want everyone to stay safe and cool during Free Summer Meals. This heat advisory ONLY AFFECTS SERVICE AT LEXINGTON SQUARE APARTMENTS OFF THE FOOD TRUCK.

πŸ₯ͺ🍎 Kids and teens 18 & under at Lexington Square can STILL grab a free meal , but we are allowing everyone to grab their meals and take them back home.

Our team will be ready to serve you with a smile, and we also have a reader today πŸ“– but please take precautions and limit your time in the heat. πŸ’¦β˜€οΈ

Stay safe, stay cool, and we'll see you at meal time! 😎

It’s chicken sandwich and waffle fry day!

Come see us on the food truck at the Cooke County Library from 11:30-12:15 or Lexington Square Apartments from 12:45-1:30.
