Post 1 of 4: Why the name “Mr Bills”?

In 1981 I was 4 years old and living in kidron Ohio. At that time my dad, Bill Dettmer, decided to buy a restaurant in the next town over, Apple Creek. The restaurant was conveniently called “the apple creek restaurant.
At some point along the way our customers and employees began to call my dad Mr Bill. Eventually that’s what everyone called him.
Around the time I was 15 dad bought a second restaurant in Wooster. He didn’t want to keep the same name Apple creek restaurant. So he hooked up with a graphic artist and said “what if we called the restaurants Mr Bills.
They developed the logo which is similar to the one you see today. We have since refined the look of it to be more up to date. He renamed the company and Mr Bills was born.
When I was 19 the restaurants went out of business due to chain restaurants moving into Wooster. Dad said within 2 months our income was cut in half. 2 years later we were out of business. Soon after, the company was incorporated and I became part owner of Mr Bills Ent. Inc.
We transitioned into construction for the next 20 years.
