This absolutely pi**es us off.

Some pilau individual decided it was okay to steal one of our hard-working team member’s e-bike today while working at Aloha Platez. (It was parked behind Toss Up / Subway)

This wasn’t some abandoned bike. This was a bike we had gifted him not too long ago so he’d have reliable transportation to and from work.

At around 3:00 PM today in broad daylight, this thief cut the lock right in front of people walking by and casually pedaled away like it was nothing.

The ironic part? He doesn’t even have the key, so the electric assist doesn’t even work. He stole it probably to just toss it somewhere.

Our security footage doesn’t give us a clear enough view of his face but if you recognize this person, or have security footage or a better angle from the area, please send us a message. Any information could help.

This isn’t okay. Our team member is now without transportation again because someone decided to steal what wasn’t theirs. 😔

Please share this post. Let’s help get this bike back where it belongs. We have a feeling this guy lingers around here.

Just a reminder that today is our last day open until next week!

We’ll be closing at 8:00 PM tonight and will reopen next Wednesday at 8:00 AM.

If you’ve been craving plate lunches, poke, shave ice, malasadas, pizza, wings, desserts, and more, today’s your chance! Come stock up on your favorites before we take a short summer break with our ʻohana. 🤙🏼

🌺 Summer Break Announcement 🌺

Each year, we close all of our restaurants for a short summer break.

A lot of people ask why we’d close during one of the busiest times of the year. From a business perspective, it may not make much sense. But we’ve learned that success isn’t just about staying open every possible day, it’s also about making time for the people who help make our restaurants what they are. 🌺

At Aunty Maile’s Hawaiian Restaurant, Aloha Platez & Shave Ice Co., and Island Rootz Cafe, we’re grateful for our team. They work hard, show up for one another, and help us serve our communities every day.

This break is simply a chance for everyone to slow down a little. Whether that means spending time with family and friends, taking a trip, catching up on life, or just getting some much needed rest.

We believe balance matters. Taking time to recharge isn’t a luxury, it’s important.

Thank you for supporting not only our restaurants, but also the people behind them. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready to go.

We fry every malasada to order, none sit around waiting to be sold. 😆

Sometimes we sell out faster than our dough can proof, so there may be a short wait for the next batch.

Worth it? We think so. 🤤

Enjoy them fresh, take them as omiyage, or save some for tomorrow. Yep, they’re still ono the next day!

🐷 Tonkotsu = pork bone broth.
🐷 Tonkatsu = breaded fried pork cutlet.

When someone orders a tonkatsu ramen expecting a crispy pork cutlet and you’re gonna be confused.

Order tonkatsu expecting ramen and you’re gonna be even more confused. 🤣

But then we get to kimchee vs kimchi…

Now that’s where we need to get this straight because…we’ve seen both used. 👀

Which is correct?

People who get moved by touching stories or quiet acts of kindness… beware. 🥹

Because this one definitely made my eyes sweat.

From the outside, our parking lot usually looks pretty empty. But once you walk inside, there’s a crowd. Full tables. Full hearts. People talking story and gathering together. 🌺

Then we realized something…

So many of our customers purposely park farther away. Anywhere that’s not marked for Aloha Platez or the neighboring restaurants. Why? Because they want to make sure there’s easy parking left for the next customers coming in to support us. 😭😭😭😭😭

Nobody asked them to do that.
That’s just the kind of aloha our customers carry. 😭😭😭

Seeing people walk from afar just so our little mom-and-pop shop has a better chance to stay busy honestly gets us every single time.

We notice it. We appreciate it. And we’ll never take that kind of love and consideration for granted.

Mahalo plenty for always looking out for us and for each other. This is truly where aloha gathers. 💛
