Please don't want to adopt me because of the way I look.
I know I'm considered 'highly desirable' in the cat world...with my long hair, and slightly crossed blue eyes. But just like online dating - you shouldn't choose someone based on how they look. I need someone who'll love me for me.
I found myself at the Scott County Humane Society - "For Pets' Sake" 93 days ago, after being caught in a silver box thing. I heard the people say that based on my matted appearance and incredibly fearful nature, I probably lived most of my 10 years outside. They used the word 'semi feral,' whatever that means. Needless to say, no one came looking for me.
I was NOT a fan of that place...at first. Loud noises freaked me out. I'd hide under my bed. I heard the people talking about maybe sending me to a barn, and then a really nice lady named Leeanna said she wanted to give it a little more time. She started giving me this YUMMY liquidy thing in a long tube...and man it rocked my world! She kept doing it over and over, and before long I was reaching out of my cage when she walked by to touch her. I was just seeing if she had any of the good stuff! Pretty soon I didn't mind if she opened my cage door. And then she started touching me...and I didn't care. I eventually would even sit in her lap!
Other people there started doing the same thing with the yummy tube stuff, and I rewarded them by allowing them to stroke me. And I'll admit it...I even liked it. So now, anyone who wants me to love them just has to give me the yummy goods.
I can still be a pretty fearful boy, but Leeanna said she was so proud of me and how far I've come. She said that my best chance to find the right home was going to be here at this cafe place...so here I am. I spent most of my first day behind a litter box, but I eventually ventured out. I even crawled into a box thingy with this young punk named Silas. He's new here too, and he ain't so bad.
I think my perfect home is going to be a quiet one, without a lot of people or small kids. And lots of the tubey things! I think I could get along with another calm, cool cat, and dogs would probably freak me out - unless they were REALLY chill. I'm really diggin' this indoor life and keep hearing about this 'forever home' place that sounds amazing. But Leanna said she promised that they'd find the right home for me here. Do you think you could help me find it?
Did I mention it must have lots and lots of the tubey things?
Sincerely,
Callahan
