In the blink of an eye, time has brought us to the first day of June. This means we are already approaching the halfway point of 2026, and in about 20 days, we will be fully immersed in the summer season.

After nearly two years in business, we have some great news to share with everyone today: you can now enjoy our hot dishes without having to come out to pick them up yourself!

We have just launched a food delivery service covering a 5-mile radius around our location. You can place your order directly through our website (just as you normally would). This means that if you prefer to wait for your food in the comfort of your home, you can now support us directly without needing to rely on any third-party delivery services. This is a new service we have worked hard to provide, creating another avenue to offer you an even better dining experience. If you give it a try and have any feedback or suggestions for improvement, please don't hesitate to let us know!

And of course, something even more exciting is happening this June: we are launching three brand-new menu items all at once! We’ve playfully dubbed this event the "Thai Noodle Fest." In addition to our current offerings—"Khao Soi" and "Boat Noodles"—we will be adding three more varieties to the lineup. We’ll reveal exactly what they are once we officially start selling them, bringing our "Thai Noodle Fest" total to five delicious noodle dishes!

So, let's join the "Noodle Rush Before Summer Crush"!

Finally, a quick update regarding our sales figures: the unusually harsh winter we experienced earlier this year caused a dip in our sales during Q1. However, as we entered Q2, we were once again blessed by the kindness and support of the GR community—just as we always have been. Thanks to you, our sales for the months of April and May have rebounded to match last year's figures—and actually surpassed them by a small margin!

Another piece of good news is that, during these two months, our in-store sales actually outpaced our online sales across all platforms. This means we’ve had more opportunities to make eye contact, exchange smiles, and share a laugh together in person—and that’s truly the best part!

Last week, a customer walked into our shop wearing a shirt that read "Chiang Mai" in Thai script. He explained that he hadn't worn it intentionally just to visit us; rather, he had already been wearing it earlier that day and simply stopped by because he happened to get hungry while passing through the neighborhood. The moment we saw his shirt, we knew—without a doubt—that he was a true fan of ours, so we greeted him with a warm smile. (We later learned that he is British and had previously spent several months traveling throughout Thailand.)

The reason I’m sharing this story is because of something he said that truly touched me: he thanked us for bringing that very smile all the way here to Grand Rapids. He recalled seeing countless smiles just like ours during his travels in Thailand—smiles that truly lived up to the country’s nickname, "The Land of Smiles"—and noted that such genuine warmth is not easily found elsewhere. He was delighted to see it once again, and even more pleased to see that we hadn't lost that spirit after moving to America—especially while working in such a demanding industry as the restaurant business.

Rest assured, you aren't the only one who’s happy about that—we’re just as happy that we’re still able to smile, too!

Who knows? If you folks start ordering delivery through our website more often—or come in to enjoy some noodles during our "Thai Noodle Fest" campaign—we might just find ourselves smiling even wider than ever before.

And we’re confident that the moment you take that very first sip of our broth of noodle, you’ll find yourself smiling right back at us, too. 😘

Finally, I hope the skies within everyone's hearts are as bright and clear as the sky here at GR today. See you at Thai Table! 🥰

"Since the day we opened our doors here at Thai Table, our favorite part of every day has been watching our Grand Rapids community explore and fall in love with Thai flavors. We’ve shared so many smiles, cravings, and... a few funny culture-clash moments across the dining table! 🥰

We realized that when you travel halfway across the world, some culinary traditions can get a little 'lost in translation.' Many of our wonderful guests often ask us about the difference between Thai and other Asian cuisines, or why our dishes are prepared a certain way.

So, we thought—why not start a fun, mini-series? 🎓✨

Welcome to , where we’ll be sharing 10 friendly facts and common misconceptions about authentic Thai food, straight from our Bangkok roots to your plate. No judgment here—just good food, fun facts, and the stories behind why we cook the way we do.

1️⃣ Myth: Thai food is always five-alarm spicy! 🌶️ 🔥

"Think Thai food is only for the brave? Think again! While we do love our chilis, traditional Thai cuisine is all about the perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty, and savory. Creamy Tom Kha soup, crunchy Cashew Chicken, and sweet Mango Sticky Rice are proof that you don't need to burn your tongue to experience authentic Thai bliss! What’s your comfort spice level?"

Check out the remaining 9 Myth in the comments.

After completing our first full year of operation in mid-September 2025, we gained a clear understanding of exactly which days required us to prepare for a surge in sales.

This preparation encompassed everything—staffing, raw materials, and various equipment. It served as an annual "dress rehearsal," allowing us to identify which "nuts and bolts" within the intricate machinery known as "Thai Table" required repair or replacement—specifically, those components unable to effectively drive the entire system forward on days when everything had to operate at full capacity.

In 2024—during the initial three and a half months we were open—we encountered three distinct "test days." Interestingly, two of these three days were neither special holidays nor significant occasions. Whether due to good luck or bad, I cannot say for certain; however, both Christmas Day and New Year's Day happened to fall on a Wednesday—a day we had chosen to keep the restaurant closed.

Furthermore, during that first year, we lacked sufficient staff—both in terms of headcount and capability—which further necessitated our closure on those two specific days.

The third day to see a spike in sales was New Year's Eve, which fell on a Tuesday. When compared against our daily average sales for the entirety of 2024, sales on December 31st were a remarkable 63% higher than average. Yet, an even better day occurred on a seemingly ordinary Saturday in November, when our sales exceeded the annual average by 73%. Even if we excluded weekdays from the calculation—comparing only against the average sales for weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) that year—we still outperformed our usual weekend performance by 44%.

*That* is precisely why we call it a "dress rehearsal."

Then, as 2025 arrived—marking our first full year of comprehensive operations—we encountered an ordinary Sunday in August where sales soared 87% above the annual average. In other words, we generated 1.87 times the revenue of a typical day. When compared specifically against other weekends, that Sunday still outperformed the average by 43%. Coming in as the next highest-performing day was Christmas Day. Santa Claus brought us a gift as well: an 89% increase in sales—a figure that stood 45% higher than our average holiday performance.

And, as many of you might have guessed, the true "dress rehearsal" for 2025 turned out to be Mother's Day that May. On that day, our sales soared to 125% above our annual average—more than double our usual daily volume—and were 72% higher than our typical weekend figures. We sold until every single person in the shop was utterly exhausted.

It was precisely because of those Mother's Day figures that, when Christmas arrived with its 89% sales boost, we barely even noticed it. It was as if our muscles and minds had already undergone their ultimate trial during Mother's Day; consequently, by the time other busy days rolled around, our bodies and minds were fully conditioned and ready to handle the load.

Then, as 2026 dawned, we finally got to see exactly what New Year's Day would bring. With our team fully prepared, we decided to open for business all seven days during the first week of the year. We discovered that on New Year's Day, our sales were 96% higher than our annual average—and 50% higher than our standard weekend performance. It was, to put it mildly, a pretty intense day.

New Year's Day held the sales throne for quite some time—that is, until yesterday, when Mother's Day arrived once again.

I have to say, compared to last year's Mother's Day, last year was considerably more intense in terms of sales volume. Yet, thanks to the sheer intensity of that previous experience, we were far better equipped to handle this year's Mother's Day rush. Overall, our sales this year were 104% above our annual average and 55% higher than our typical weekend average—figures that were actually slightly lower than our sales on Christmas last year. (As I mentioned earlier, we barely even remembered that Christmas was a busy day, simply because we had already survived the ordeal of Mother's Day 2025.)

And yet... It was more than enough to surpass New Year's Day, officially making it the highest-grossing day of 2025. A round of applause!

And tomorrow marks the 20th-month anniversary of Thai Table. The warm reception we have received from everyone has made the time fly by. We haven't had a moment to be idle, as we have been constantly devising ways to accommodate our growing customer base—while also innovating to ensure everyone gets to experience authentic Thai cuisine, with new menu items introduced daily. We strive tirelessly to align everyone's perception with our own: that Thai food is not merely a symbol of speed, simplicity, or affordability.

Rather, it represents the intricate complexity of culinary technique, a multi-layered spectrum of flavors, and—undeniably—the elegance and sophistication of recipes passed down through generations over hundreds of years.

And I believe that, for our customers, all of this has already been proven.

Do you agree? 🥰
