The end of an era.
Effective Dec 3rd, for the first time in 39 years, the Martinez family will not have a restaurant industry presence in NWA. From Dad and Uncle Lester’s start at BJ’s in 1984 to the Hard Luck Cafe in 2023, and dozens of places in between, it has been an exciting ride for 3 generations.
All things eventually come to an end, and those of you closest to me know that my heart has not been in it for the past several years. Through the course of my life the one thing that has remained constant is my desire to live an impactful life, and to leave others better than I found them. I feel like I have made all of the significant difference here that I possibly can, and I have felt that way for some time. So, for me, it is time to move on and relegate this 13 chapter story of The Hard Luck Cafe to the history books. My friend Mike Misenheimer once told me, “When all you can think about is your time off, it’s time to do something different. “ That was in 1997, and it still holds true today.
We have met so many amazing lifelong friends through our nearly 40 years serving the community of Gravette and the surrounding areas. Many of whom have become family to us and we will miss you all dearly. On behalf of myself, my family, and my family who have gone on before me, as well as all the dedicated employees throughout the years whom without them, none of this would have ever been possible… I thank you all for not only your continued loyalty and patronage, but also for your friendship and love that has always blessed this family immensely for the last 40 years. Being part of this wonderful little community has truly been the honor and privilege of a lifetime.
