"My wife and I were staying with friends in Westport for our friend's, Christy, birthday. We had went to Shoalwater Casino for on Christy's birthday for a little fun. On the way back to our cabin we were googling restaurants in the area. We had noticed the big water wheel out front on our way to the casino and the Wheelhouse was pretty close to our position on google maps. We all were so hungry!

When we entered, we were greeted very pleasantly and seated right away. I noticed it was somewhat loud due to all the conversations between diners. That just assured me that this was a friendly zone ?.

We had ordered an appetizer of calamari and while we waited, I quietly began singing Happy Birthday but embarrassingly quit after the first verse. We giggled but a wonderful woman across the restaurant asked "Are we singing Happy Birthday?"......

So we began again and to my surprise, this kind woman started singing with us! It took all of half a second and every person in the restaurant was singing Happy Birthday! I could not believe what was happening. Such a great moment to witness for an extremely beautiful person that Christy is!

Ok, food and service time. The calamari almost made me order a 2nd calamari but I had to power through my chicken fried steak dinner first. It was perfect! The seasoning definitely was correct.

I am not finished. I have been nicknamed a few things by my wife. When a waitress asks her if shee needs a box for her leftovers, she will reply with "Thanks but I brought my Hoover or the Disposal will take care of it"

Of course my wife wasnt able to finish her ate and I had a little room left and disposed some of her leftover seafood fettuccine with a slight pull of air.

OMG! THE CRAB, SHRIMP, FETTUCCINE NOODLES AND SEASONINGS! Whoever is the creator of that recipe, you are something else! That dish alone is why we will drive 2 and a half hours to savor again real soon!

The entire time our waitress was perfection ?. So kind and caring as was all the staff. This place is special.

Its truly the workers and food that keeps customers returning and the Wheelhouse Restaurant has both. They also have a wonderful community that are not shy to spread LOVE.
