The girls' (and Brady's 😅) favorite time of the day... alfalfa time! Don't let them fool you, they rarely run out, but I do force them to eat down their feeder some before refilling. They got a bale fresh from Premier Hay today, which is just the best 🌾

My rogue pullets already venturing into the goat paddock 😆 I'm excited to have my first Welsummers, and more Speckled Sussex (my favorite breed despite their "plain" eggs), BCM, Crele Penedesenca, one more Golden Cuckoo Maran, and a few rogue girls from eggs I hatched after a broody girl gave up right before hatch day 😅 I had the most losses ever with this batch of chicks this spring, all from my shipped chicks, but they all thankfully seem to be thriving now (and the hatchery made it right). I'm looking forward to seeing what these ladies have to offer 🥚 With any luck, I'll put the effort in to at least make some Moss/OE pens this year with my Moss egger roo over some of my prettiest egg layers 🤞

Sugar has been such a sweet, productive addition to the herd. She produced some gorgeous doelings this year, and is producing 1/2 gallon a day, consistently, on only 1x/day milkings, still feeding her two doelings. She makes sure she gets some good head rubbing and scratches in after milking each evening. I love me some Sugar 🥹😍

Feta cheese in the books! I was intimidated by feta, I think because I love it so much, but it takes a lot of baby sitting. It did take a bit of time and checking on it, but overall I'd say not too challenging at all. I can't wait to try it after brining!
