Whew! I delayed posting in case any storms messed up our plans, but it looks like everything will have blown through before we start this evening, or worst case it will be closer to 6 when we head out if it’s not quite done yet. We hope everyone is staying safe in the storm!

Here are the rest of this week’s routes. Some are untouched, some are changed to a different day or to earlier in the evening. For the people who live in Indian Ridge, you’re only going to be on Saturday for THIS week. We have an event and a wedding on Sunday so we’re just moving you up to Saturday so we can get to you. Timber Lane area, you were just too far from our birthday party and wedding that we couldn’t get to you between the two but in general, you’ll be back to Saturdays after this. We only eliminated two small stops out of all our routes, so you can see your streets still there, just maybe in a different lineup!

On the actual ice cream truck side of things, regular Monday routes tonight! We’ll see you at Wirt Park around 5:30.

Behind the scenes, tonight we are sitting down and making the schedule for the rest of the week. We are pleased with the new streets we’ve added so far which is great, but we’re realizing we could be more efficient if we moved the schedule around a little to better work those in. We thought about waiting until next season to make any schedule changes, but before we know it schools will be starting again and then the sun will be setting earlier. So every minute is going to count soon, and we want to keep getting to as many of you as possible! So tonight we’re going to work that out, and we’ll post it either overnight or tomorrow morning. Make sure you look out for that!

Then tomorrow night we will create our order forms for the pies and work out when our delivery nights will be, and we’ll have that information coming to you straightaway!

What a beautiful day for national ice cream day today!!! We’re so happy to be out on the road celebrating it with you! (And if you see the truck in Half Pint’s parking lot so we can enjoy some of the amazing things Trish planned for today, mind your business!!!)

- as much of Chapel Ridge as we can, starting with the “left” Hemlock Drive

8:29 - We are about to start Providence Drive in Sherry Village, we will definitely not have time/daylight for Franklin Ct!

We just finished two events and the air feels fine, and it looks like the only storms tonight are going to happen in the next hour somewhere, so we are going to head out tonight!! 🙌 🙌
Both trucks will probably start closer to 5 to make sure the skies are clear.
If Dan finishes the Timber Lane area before we lose daylight, instead of the neighborhood behind it he’ll pick a street we missed this week and head there instead.
Just a reminder we will not carry the ice cream pies we posted about on the truck; they will be for delivery only and I’ll post about that in the next couple days.

You saw our reel yesterday evening - ICE CREAM PIES!! Here’s the scoop!!

We will not be carrying these on the truck; I would be too worried about them falling apart. Which means they’re totally made to order! You pick the bottom ice cream, middle topping layer, top ice cream, and top topping layer!
Once our distributor delivers our bulk pie crusts we will begin taking orders.

After the popularity of our most recent delivery night, our awesome parents already had volunteered to deliver orders regularly. So, we are going to start implementing regular/rolling delivery nights of our pints, layered pints, quarts, layered quarts, sandwiches, and now pies - something like you place your orders by Wednesday for a Friday afternoon or evening delivery. (I’ll check with them on what days will work the best.) Still within a half hour of Hanover’s Food Lion. That way if weather messes with us some more, you’re not on our regular routes, or if you WANT SOME PIE, we can get it to you!

The pie serves 6-8 people and will be $20! Our taste testers are happy to inform you that it’s DELICIOUS.

Friday 7/17 - We will NOT be running tonight. The air quality is getting worse, and we don’t want to put our employees or the public at risk. We are keeping anyone up north who is in the way of the actual wildfires in our prayers! Instead of going bananas stressing about these nights off, we have been putting an idea we saw into action, and I’ll post about that in a few hours!

While we’re here, I would like to thank Randy's Electrical Service, Inc. for the fantastic job they did for our generators the last two Mondays. They took one each week for general maintenance, but the cleaning that they did made it look like we got whole new generators - check out the before and after! And in general, they are such a kind and reliable business.

Thanks to Gerard Daniel, Sealed Air, Wellspan Orthopedics, Adams Electric Cooperative, KRS, and Wee Care Best for having us out to your events this week. We appreciate your business; it was great to see everyone!!

As we make our way through July, we realize that we reached our “halfway” point already! This season has been a whirlwind so far getting two trucks in shape and out on the road and welcoming some fantastic new employees. I wish this week in particular would have worked with us a little more, but still - we truly have the best customers and are so grateful to everyone for such a great season so far. We are looking forward to actually going to some of the streets we had in mind for this week and are excited for several more months with you for the year!! A reminder, we do routes until the last night of September. Then we still do events in October and close up our season at the beginning of November.

Tonight one truck will be out - it’s manageable but still hot and we know the other truck’s generator would not hold up. We are making steps towards getting another fan etc back there so this won’t be a forever problem. But we’ll see our “usual” Thursday routes tonight! Thank you all!

UPDATE: Speaking of overheating; tonight was apparently too hot (which isn’t looking good for two trucks for Thursday). Truck number one is continuing with the Center Street route, but the other truck had to return home for the evening. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Posting the plan of the week again in case you didn’t see it yesterday! Of course now the heat is creeping into Thursday too. If you didn’t see our posts during the last heat wave, the generator of our second truck gets as fed up as I do when it’s super hot, and it overheats. The plan is to put a second fan back there like our first truck has, but that doesn’t happen overnight. So Thursday’s second truck routes are being threatened right now; we’ll make a decision on them tomorrow.

Tonight we have two trucks! See below for where each is heading. One isn’t back from getting its battery checked out yet. We’ll need to put the machine together and load it up once it is back, which is why it says it might be a little later than 5:30. ‼️‼️ It left just before 6!‼️‼️
